"OG's truly stands for Outstanding Gourmet"
While I've had the Pastelitos and Baked spaghetti before, This was my first time being able to come in during dinner and sit and enjoy a magnificent dinner from OG's Sports Grill.
We entered in and seen the legend himself, OG (Oscar G.) helping other patrons on the bottom floor before making himself available to us. He happily escorted us to the top floor with the bar area which featured TV showcasing the Basketball games currently ongoing and music but it didn't ruin the atmosphere that was going on at all.
We had a small heart to heart with O.G and were able to listen to the facts of how he wants to bring together lots of different communities through the use of food and having a place where everyone can come in and enjoy any dish with no reservation to your background.
We ordered the "Baleadas Especial" and Pollo con Tajadas for our main course while sipping on some Tamarind margaritas and taking in the menu before being treated to complimentary Garlic knots which in all honesty, photos don't do them justice.
The garlic knots were soft, yet crispy. The sauce, savory and buttery. And the overall flavor for it being something as simple garlic knots.
Once our food came, the food may seem as if it was a mess, however it was more of Organized chaos for the Tajadas and meticulous placement to make the Baleadas look truly uniform.
The only sound that you could hear from the table was a mixture of Crunch from the Baleadas and the crispy crunch from the chicken. I can't lie, there was an absolute mess that was left on my face and in my beard however I take it as a badge of honor considering every bit of flavor that came off of that plate, was absolutely profound and yet so different.
The Tajadas featured a main feature from green bananas which truly absorbed the flavor of sauces and I regret to say, I was absolutely stuffed from the chicken to finish off the bananas however, it will be making a 2nd appearance as a 3am snack lol.
Definitely take a detour down sunset and enjoy the food here. There is something for everyone, not just the main course dishes that might be out of your realm of flavor. The baked spaghetti itself was a meal and a half!.
I hope that OG's is able to grow into a staple within the Sunset av crew and is one that truly is able to unite people of all nationalities and walks of life under the...
Read moreI really hate giving bad reviews, but my last time at this place was a complete nightmare. I had told the hostess that I was arranging a surprise Gathering for some friends of mine, I described what they look like and told him where in the restaurant to bring them, said people came into restaurant and were told to go upstairs while the party was going on downstairs, they had to be redirected to the downstairs portion , which consequently spoiled the surprise , I had got to the gathering before anybody else and sat at the table for 20 minutes before anybody EVEN acknowledged I was there. (The staff was 'busy' eating and watching the game)....FINALLY after a while I got up and had to go behind the hostess counter to get my OWN menu, I ordered a appetizer of french fries they were brought out to me and dropped off and my waitress disappeared for another 10 to 15 minutes, when I finally did get her attention again, I asked for some ketchup, by the time to ketchup came.... the fries were already cold. I wish I could say all the issues ended there, but they didn't, 😪 I ordered the Mexican burger which does NOT have bacon on it, everybody else in the party ordered their food, the food came out and there was bacon on a burger that's advertised with NO bacon, I had to send mine back in to get another Burger, by the time my food came out everybody else was done with their food. This used to be one of the Hidden Gemstones of Asheboro and I really hope, really really hope this was just a bad day for this establishment, but it was one of the worst restaurant experiences I ever had .......I will go back, because the first time I went was great, but they going to have to do better than this, I can only...
Read moreFirst time customer, long-time visitor to downtown Asheboro. I was flying solo this particular evening and decided to give OG’s a try. Downstairs is typical booth, sit-down seating. The bar is upstairs, and standard in size and appearance for more sports bars. Plenty of big screen TV’s upstairs to see whatever sporting event is on.
Beer options are plenty, as too was the vast collection of liquors along the backside of the bar. The menu offers options for any mood: Pizza, calzones, Stromboli’s, pasta, subs, hamburgers, gyros, wings, wraps, salads, tacos, and full entree Mexican options…it’s mixed bag and really more options than anyone would need. But, if you don’t know what you want to eat, odds are you’ll find it on their menu.
I ordered the chicken gyro with chips. The chips were crispy and delicious as advertised in other reviews. The gyro had good flavor but the tenderness was too overcooked - chicken was too dry, but that is common among most restaurants because they want to make sure it’s done (the USDA has people overcooking chicken with their recommended internal temps). I followed up with an order of teriyaki chicken wings that were cooked to perfection - crispy! In fact, they were so good, I forgot to take a picture. I’ll definitely be back to try several other items...
