This is a solid 4 star restaurant. We had this for lunch today as a back up option since we were camping and had planned on visiting the Sierra Nevada brewing company tap room. (Side note: I highly suggest it when it's actually open, unfortunately not our luck due to covid.) We chose this restaurant because it sounded like good food and was easy to navigate to on our trek home from camping with our pop up in tow. I don't have any major complaints, but I also don't have anything crazy fabulous that sets this restaurant above typical mexican restaurants. The food was good, the service was alright, and we didn't have any problems. Pros: Because it's situated in a hotel, it wasn't crazy busy, and it's also very easy to get in and out of opposed to your typical 'in town' spots. Their chips and salsa are on point! We also enjoyed their cheese dip, very very good!! My husband did mention that his cheese enchilada (from the supreme enchiladas) was probably the best he's ever had, and was one of his favorites because normally it's his least favorite. They use some yummmmmmy cheese.
Cons: It took quite a while to actually get our drinks (beer and a margarita from the bar.) Although they did bring chips and salsa first, they never brought or offered us water, and we were pretty thirsty through the whole meal. We got through on bottled water I had in my purse. I personally didn't like the menu choices. Although there were plenty of things to choose from, very few of the dinner sized meals came with beans and rice. (Basically the #1 go to sides in mexican dining.) Which ultimately led me to order ala cart for my meal which is terribly disappointing because I didn't receive that amazing side of lettuce and sour cream that tops off enchiladas so well. For a mostly empty restaurant our server wasn't particularly attentive. (I would have asked for water, but he didn't check on us at a good time to ask... So we settled for the drinks we ordered and the bottled water I had on hand.)
Summing everything up: this is a good spot to hit if you like Mexican and are up to try something new. Its not anything special and it won't blow your mind. Decent food, a little more expensive than most mexican but not expensive. So 4 stars.
Post note: there is a leak in the bathroom and there was water all over the floor leaking along the grout lines. Kind of gross and I hope they get...
Read moreWas not impressed at all. First off i started with a pitcher of beer, seeing as i drink at least one beer every evening with dinner i know how it should taste and the beer was seriously watered down. The manager did replace the bud light with a 22oz of the premium brand but i ordered a pitcher so it was whatever. The food was commercial american Mexican food like the big box restaurants not very authentic at all. I did however like the cactus it was different i had never ate cactus before. Now to the server, my meal was supposed to come with tortillas, how can u have fajitas with out them?, and it was also supposed to come with beans, rice, pico, sour cream, guac, and lettuce. I literally had to get up and go ask for the rest of my dinner. The waitress didnt even know they were supposed to be with the meat and veggies she brought out. I also asked for a glass of water that i never received. The attempt to offer a salsa bar was a good idea but none of the salsa really had much flavor and the one i wanted to try was empty the entire time i was there even after i asked if the could bring more out when I left the same empty tray with several avocado seeds and traces of salsa was still the only thing there. I was so unimpressed with this restaurant that the next time i stay at the clarion i will walk up the road to McDonalds and grab a can of beer from the...
Read moreI went with a large group to celebrate my nephews birthday last night and the experience wasn't what I expected. I ordered a quesadilla and when it came out, it didn't look like a quesadilla at all. I chose a quesadilla for the fact I could pick it up and also easily share with my daughter if she wanted some but I was forced to eat it with a fork. The spur cream was really runny and made me feel like it wasnt at the right temp so I didn't eat it. The rice portion was also smaller than literally any other Mexican restaurant in the area.
I wasn't the only one disappointed by their meal. My aunt ordered the taquitos and while normally taquitos in a restaurant are hand rolled but these looked IDENTICAL to the ones I get in a box of 100 for $9.99 at go grocery. She got four along with her also pitiful portion or rice and beans. She seemed satisfied, but I would have been pissed if that's what I got.
There were only two mild salsa on the bar and they tasted identical. Everything else was too spicy to eat.
The staff was friendly but also didn't seem super attentive. Like the server kept handing the ticket to my fiance, even after I was the one to put my card on the tray and hand it back.
Our experience was okay at best. We probably won't be back unless it's another family thing where we don't have a choice in...
