My husband and I were in Asheville for a weekend trip and wanted to find a good sandwich/sub for dinner. Looked online and saw Asheville Sandwich Company. Read through the reviews and looked through the pictures and decided to try out. Absolutely regret that decision. $40+ for an Italian and a Roast Beef and neither of them were any good. We came in on 4/5/2025 around 6:30pm and the place was not busy. There were a couple tables but not at lot going on. The girl at the counter was extremely friendly. We ordered and took our seat. Now mind you we ordered two COLD sandwiches. Another table came in after us and a couple came in and ordered ice cream. While we waited one table was served their ice cream and food, which they were there before us, the people who came in after us were served their HOT sandwiches and the other couple got their ice cream and left. I waited another 5 minutes then went to the counter and asked if there was an issue with our meal and she went to ask about it and it was just being finished up then. My Italian was meh. I’m saying that because it seems this sandwich shop wants to be more bougie and less about taste. An Italian is Ham/Capicola, salami. Pepperoni, lettuce, tomato and provolone. Not served with mixed greens and shredded Parmesan on top.Does your Nonna know that your trying to pass this off as an Italian?? It was a beautiful presentation but I want a sandwich not art. Also some basic oil and vinegar will suffice. Red wine vinaigrette is for a salad. I ate about 4 bites and tossed it. The shoestring fries were stale. You could tell they had been sitting for a while and just been thrown back in the grease and reheated. My husbands roast beef…Roast beef is top round steak not prime rib. There was so much fat in the meat that he was pulling more out than he was eating. He took 3 bites and threw his away. We didn’t ask for our money back because...
Read moreNever did get to visit the original location on Haywood, but after hearing nothing but great things I'm thrilled to now have Asheville Sandwich Company open just a few blocks from where I live. Stopped in with the family today during their very limited "soft opening" hours and was thoroughly impressed with their offerings and service. The menu is huge and offers something for every diet- as pescetarians we ordered off the vegan side of the menu. Specifically, the vegan (seitan) cheesesteak, vegan (again seitan) reuben and tofu banh mi- and none of us could agree which was best. Sandwiches arrived hot, seitan was cooked perfectly, cheese had a nice melt and sauces were balanced just right- with just the right amount of kick. Tofu was fried and crispy and it was clear they know the key to a solid banh mi is the bread- just the right amount of crustiness but not so hard that it smashes the innards when biting into it. Fries or chips come by default with your sandwich, so we tried both the regular and shoestring varieties and again couldn't agree which was best. The staff were friendly and helped explain the options, accomodated a couple special requests with ease, and checked in on us after we received our order. Being on a lunch break I opted not to grab a beer, but was pleased to see a number of local options represented on the taplist. To top it off, their ice cream and dessert options look phenomenal- another customer ordered a milkshake and if I wasn't so thoroughly filled from my lunch I'd have probably grabbed one myself after seeing it. Looking forward to their full opening as I suspect this new location will become a staple of our options when seeking something quick, easy and delicious for lunch or dinner- not to mention there's so much I...
Read moreEmployees were friendly, price was as expected. Food was mid grade and took too long to receive. We ordered two sandwiches and took an hour to receive our food. For a sandwich shop, 15 minutes is too long. When we mentioned it to the server and politely explained we would not be returning she responded with "OK". No effort was attempted to make it right for the customer.
So, were the orders being served in order or did the kitchen mess up? One of those statements is a lie. Did the same employee who lied to us also lie to you about being yelled at? After all, they are only 16. They may have been afraid of losing their job. I guess, pointing fingers at the customer instead of apologizing to the customer for improper service is the kind of example management of this company sets for their employees. Thank you for letting everyone know what kind of character runs Asheville Sandwich Company. I'll be sure and pass...
