After a big breakfast at Shoney’s and a six hour drive from Wilmington, NC we didn’t feel like having a big supper, so we turned to Yelp to recommend sandwich shops and we chose this one. The Asheville Sandwich Company is located in an artsy section of Ashville, surrounded by arts and craft stores, wine bars, coffee shops and small specialty stores. Parking is on the street, but I didn’t have any problem finding a space, but I think this could be a problem later in the evening and on weekends. When we walked in, we were greeted by a very friendly server. The restaurant is small and between its size and the server, it has a 60’s coffee house atmosphere, I’m dating myself now, but it was very enjoyable and relaxing. My wife had their Turkey BLT – house roasted turkey, bacon, lettuce pickled tomato, chipotle ranch, and shoestring fries on the side. She said it was as delicious as it looks. I chose to go with their Roast Prime Rib – house roasted prime rib, caramelized onions, cheddar chees with a choice of fires on top or on the side, I chose on the side. They give you plenty of beef and just the right amount of cheese and onions. The shoestring potatoes were cooked the way I like them, not too crispy. Some places cook them so that they end up more like chips. If you are in the mood for a quick sandwich, this would be a very good choice.

I'm genuinely upset about my experience with this place. I wanna start out by saying I would not have eaten here usually, as i'm pretty aware that most food places with the word "Asheville" in the title are an excuse to sell unseasoned, underwhelming, white washed food for $30 and try to convince people it's some local gem. But i've heard good things about this place so I gave it a shot, and it fell right into that theme. The bread is tough, the meat is dry and slimy at the same time somehow, look at this lettuce and cheese. What even is that actually. That's actually nonsense. That's just.. not how you cut those things for a sandwich? And for a reason! It's not good! If I wanted a salad I would've gotten a salad. And the piling a big mountain of lettuce on an open sub is just the shtick to make you think it's a thick sandwich. it's not. I showed a picture of how thick it was after i bit into it. Actually ridiculous for how much you're paying. I came home and put mayo, mustard, pickle, pepper on it trying to make it taste good. And It's still bad. You will 100% get a better sandwich at subway. Or even Arby's. also the place was absolutely filthy. The staff member was kind and seemed to be doing her best, but common. You either need more staff or better management. Eat literally anywhere else.

Don't drive by this gem at the end of a strip mall or you'll regret it. These were 2 of the best sandwiches I have had anywhere. The Reuben: from the homemade marble rye to the generous portion of sauerkraut and pastrami, this sandwich didn't stand a chance. We opted for the thick fries (also had the choice of string fries). Fries were hot and tasty. The Prime Rib sandwich- the hoagie roll was so fresh I swear they just pulled it out of the oven. Crispy outside, soft inside. The healthy portion of thinly sliced prime rib, arugula, fresh tomatoes and a garlic aioli sauce was the perfect combination. PRO TIP: we opted to upgrade our side and went for the crispy Brussel sprouts. (Better than the first class upgrade on my last flight!) We came in at 1:30PM on a Friday. How are they keeping this place a secret? There should have been a line wrapped around the building. Bravo. Fresh ingredients, friendly staff, and generous portions. I wish we had this place in Atlanta (but then I guess it wouldn't be called Asheville Sandwich Company.)

My husband and I were in Asheville for a weekend trip and wanted to find a good sandwich/sub for dinner. Looked online and saw Asheville Sandwich Company. Read through the reviews and looked through the pictures and decided to try out. Absolutely regret that decision. $40+ for an Italian and a Roast Beef and neither of them were any good. We came in on 4/5/2025 around 6:30pm and the place was not busy. There were a couple tables but not at lot going on. The girl at the counter was extremely friendly. We ordered and took our seat. Now mind you we ordered two COLD sandwiches. Another table came in after us and a couple came in and ordered ice cream. While we waited one table was served their ice cream and food, which they were there before us, the people who came in after us were served their HOT sandwiches and the other couple got their ice cream and left. I waited another 5 minutes then went to the counter and asked if there was an issue with our meal and she went to ask about it and it was just being finished up then. My Italian was meh. I’m saying that because it seems this sandwich shop wants to be more bougie and less about taste. An Italian is Ham/Capicola, salami. Pepperoni, lettuce, tomato and provolone. Not served with mixed greens and shredded Parmesan on top.Does your Nonna know that your trying to pass this off as an Italian?? It was a beautiful presentation but I want a sandwich not art. Also some basic oil and vinegar will suffice. Red wine vinaigrette is for a salad. I ate about 4 bites and tossed it. The shoestring fries were stale. You could tell they had been sitting for a while and just been thrown back in the grease and reheated. My husbands roast beef…Roast beef is top round steak not prime rib. There was so much fat in the meat that he was pulling more out than he was eating. He took 3 bites and threw his away. We didn’t ask for our money back because...

Never did get to visit the original location on Haywood, but after hearing nothing but great things I'm thrilled to now have Asheville Sandwich Company open just a few blocks from where I live. Stopped in with the family today during their very limited "soft opening" hours and was thoroughly impressed with their offerings and service. The menu is huge and offers something for every diet- as pescetarians we ordered off the vegan side of the menu. Specifically, the vegan (seitan) cheesesteak, vegan (again seitan) reuben and tofu banh mi- and none of us could agree which was best. Sandwiches arrived hot, seitan was cooked perfectly, cheese had a nice melt and sauces were balanced just right- with just the right amount of kick. Tofu was fried and crispy and it was clear they know the key to a solid banh mi is the bread- just the right amount of crustiness but not so hard that it smashes the innards when biting into it. Fries or chips come by default with your sandwich, so we tried both the regular and shoestring varieties and again couldn't agree which was best. The staff were friendly and helped explain the options, accomodated a couple special requests with ease, and checked in on us after we received our order. Being on a lunch break I opted not to grab a beer, but was pleased to see a number of local options represented on the taplist. To top it off, their ice cream and dessert options look phenomenal- another customer ordered a milkshake and if I wasn't so thoroughly filled from my lunch I'd have probably grabbed one myself after seeing it. Looking forward to their full opening as I suspect this new location will become a staple of our options when seeking something quick, easy and delicious for lunch or dinner- not to mention there's so much I...

Employees were friendly, price was as expected. Food was mid grade and took too long to receive. We ordered two sandwiches and took an hour to receive our food. For a sandwich shop, 15 minutes is too long. When we mentioned it to the server and politely explained we would not be returning she responded with "OK". No effort was attempted to make it right for the customer.

  • I looked for a reply so I could reply below but didn't see it so I'm putting it here. What happened was my wife walked up to the counter and asked, didn't yell, if our order was ready after waiting 45 minutes. They went back to the kitchen then came back and told us they were handling them in order. After two people who came in after us got their food she brought ours out and said the kitchen messed up. Very politely, without raising my voice, I informed her we had been waiting over an hour and would not be back. No voice was ever raised.

So, were the orders being served in order or did the kitchen mess up? One of those statements is a lie. Did the same employee who lied to us also lie to you about being yelled at? After all, they are only 16. They may have been afraid of losing their job. I guess, pointing fingers at the customer instead of apologizing to the customer for improper service is the kind of example management of this company sets for their employees. Thank you for letting everyone know what kind of character runs Asheville Sandwich Company. I'll be sure and pass...
