Am in my 60s, have eaten Mexican food in at least 40 of the 50 states, all over Europe & Asia, as well as many, many times in different parts of Mexico, and this is hands-down the WORST Mexican food I have EVER eaten (to include Taco Hell).
My friend and I shared the chips/salsa, Guacamole, Cheese queso, Steak Taco Salad, an ala carte Beef Burrito, and a Beef taco.
Chips were beyond very stale. The ingredients, for all of the dishes we tasted, were like they were purchased at the Dollar Tree. Salsa (worst we've ever had) is very watered-down bad spaghetti sauce and, like the other items, contains absolutely ZERO flavor whatsoever - unfortunately this same tomato-drizzle was also strained and poured over the worst Burrito ever made. Shredded cheese on top of the Burrito and Taco/Taco Salad - tasteless and poor. Beef in the Burrito and Taco had the texture consistency as if it had been already thoroughly chewed by at least 1 someone else. Steak in the Taco Salad had the texture of a left-over bad sirloin from 2 months ago at the Golden Corral - and lost its taste somewhere during that time period. Only marginable edible part of the meal was the onions and green peppers in the Taco Salad.
When sharing our thoughts briefly with the staff member who rang up our bill at the register about the Salsa served with the Chips alone, his response was "well we use that for the small children who can't take spicy foods."
Note to Management at Casa Torres - when you plan your Menu flavors around the taste pallette of a 3-4 year old, plan on calling U-Haul to arrange the trucks you will need to pack up your restaurant once it closes...which if last night was any indication, should...
Read moreThe food (after it came because the waiter admitted the kitchen lost our ticket) was delicious. The server who took over after ours kept forgetting the basics like straws and water was really nice and kind. My hungry kids never complained about the wait. We didn't make a fuss. The bill included an extra burrito and chimichanga as well as charges for lettuce after we asked for lettuce since ours had sour cream all over it (we asked for no sour cream). The owner's daughter came over and was downright rude and confrontational about the items we said we didn't order. She accused my wife of yelling, yet my wife never raised her voice.
Her mom came over and immediately accused us of being a problem table. It really took us aback. We always are polite. We typically tip very well. We are thankful for good service. I never experienced such rude management. We go to Disneyworld multiple times a year, we travel overseas, we are very polite people wherever we go... this was our first and last time there, which is a shame because the food and a few waiters were outstanding. I don't expect to accomplish anything but letting the community know of our experience and hopefully management sees the aggressiveness of their poor comments towards patrons.
As an aside, 4 other patrons caught us in the parking lot and said they overheard what happened and they thought it was unfair...
Read moreWhen it comes to running a restaurant professionally I can’t give any professional advice other than what every customer that comes in is thinking. The food is great, the service is fairly quick and the servers are polite everything you would expect from a 4.5 Star restaurant, but when you start putting coupons for bogo meals out everywhere and you say “we can no longer accept these because of a downfall in business” I think that you should at least honor the customers that continue to bring the coupons in until you no longer see them because you’re turning away 4 meals and 4 drinks not including appetizers. Every restaurant out there buys food they cook in bulk and get it at a dramatically different price than you would in a traditional market. There’s no way you could possibly lose money accepting the coupon. You would gain business because one happy customer will refer their friends and so on then eventually on a Friday night you’re slammed pack from open to close and you could’ve have potentially yielded thousands of dollars and more customers for...
