We've been going to this Breugger's for a couple of years now. We LOVE the food. It is always delicious. However, the service and atmosphere leave much to be desired. The bathrooms are always disgusting. I have been to truck stop bathrooms in Iowa that are cleaner. The employees making the orders are mostly delightful. The employees running the register and/or managing are not. They talk to each other the whole time, play on their phone or ignore customers until THEY are ready. They talk very loudly about their personal business. They will laugh and smile at each other which is great, but then look at customers like we are an inconvenience of their free time. Even when not busy, they will be chatting and not cleaning the extremely dirty dining area. We understand everything bagels can be a bit messy. However, every table is always dirty. We are cleaning up after the customers before us every week, so we can sit and eat a meal with our daughter. I've hoped for a long time someone would say something or do something to clean this location up. It hasn't happened. So, after all this time, here is my review. Also where the bagels are boiled needs to be properly sealed, bleached and repaired. There's so much visible mildew, it's icky and the metal along the window is broken. Come on, friends. We can do a bit better for an eating establishment. I think we will check out the other location next week and see if it's a better fit for us. It's a little more out of the way but if we're coming 30 minutes out of town for breakfast every weekend, we want to go where we are comfortable and don't feel like we have to clean up...
Read moreI would love to stop by this place more often but every time I give it another chance I am disappointed. I came in at 1:20 pm today (40 min before closing) and could not help but notice most of the tables were uncleaned, the coffee station quite dirty, and they still have a bizarre line of chairs separating the main entrance and exit doors like always. I waited behind 1 lady being helped while I noticed 5 other employees busying themselves with different tasks (not customer service) most likely prepping to close/restocking but certainly not cleaning or helping me. After a bit a girl offers to help me. She takes my order in a nice fashion but I did notice the food prep area was pretty messy from previous orders.. I step away and wait in front of the cash register to pay. The person that appears to be the manager asks me about payment, I ask about if they have decaf coffee to which he says they do not have. He then adds, they usually have it but none right now. I pay and wait. I notice another couple tries to order a type of coffee and he tells them its all out.
I am growing frustrated with businesses that close up business way before closing time. Expect to get whatever they have left, because they have no interest in maintaining the coffee levels. Cleanliness is #1 to me and seeing several employees idling around while several tables would take 5 minutes to clean up is just a turn off. IDK if I will return even though I...
Read moreWhat happened? I ordered a bagel with cream cheese, onions, smoked salmon (lox) and capers at the Biltmore, Asheville location and what I got is this. A bagel with one onion ring. Not a sliced onion but one very small ring. Hardly any cream cheese and one caper on the entire sandwich. And to add insult to injury, the lox was very tiny and it didn't taste that fresh. I was very disappointed in the place. I never got a sandwich like that at Joey's bagels. If your volume sales are down, you need to look at what's going on behind the counter. Most disappointed people won't say anything. They just won't come back. I know I won't. I remember when you first opened. I was one of the first customers. I got at least 1/4 inch of cream cheese healthy slices of fresh lox, a lot of capers, and an entire slice of a jumbo sweet onion. So, again I ask...WHAT HAPPENED? You can talk about your high cost but I'd rather pay more and brag about a great sandwich at Brueggers bagels. Again... if your sales are down don't blame the economy or the high cost of goods. Look behind the counter before you don't have a business to watch. I was in business for over 50 years and you have a problem that needs to be addressed before it's too late. Save your money and...
