Very accommodating, fast, friendly service. Very good food... I came alone, in the brunch-y part of Monday, around 10:15(ish)a.m. There is VERY limited parking, but I seemingly arrived at just the right time. It proceeded to become busy quickly. I could see other would be patrons look at me a bit confused like," is she coming or going?" I finished my makeup and went inside. I was greeted swiftly and asked, "just 1"? I replied, "I'm just checking it out". Looking around, it was clean, yet homey. Not much room however. It has a seating capacity to match it's parking, about Waffle House size. Being Covid-19, diligent, they require masks upon entry and until you get your food and they have a plastic shield at the cash register. Before realizing my standing there would be in the way of other guests, Kari was already asking if the bar was okay, then seating me as I motioned affirmatively. Like many Greek owned diners, it has an extensive menu that offers almost every usual favorite but Five boasts some unique fair not usually seen in comparable establishments. From a chalk board of the days specials, I chose a meal that seemed fairly exotic and especially Greek: "moussaka"! Though I've never had it before, my curiosity was stirred years ago when it was mentioned in the recurring SNL skit, featuring Will Ferrell and Rachel Dratch, "the Lov-ahs". With rekindled amusement at the skit, and my interest peaked for the dish, I inquired Kari for the details. Served much like a portion of lasagna would be; a thick, loafy, slice of hearty, comfort food, baked to a golden brown perfection. Besides being served with a side of marinara sauce, that's where the similarities end. It's got eggplant, in layers with seasoned meat, in this case I believe ground lamb. Topped, instead of melted cheese, you get what?! "Bechamel sauce"! Not sure what that is? I wasn't either. It was worth the google for the incredible texture it possessed. Almost like whipped mashed potatoes but close to a custard like firmness, it is really marvelous! As a waitress, Kari was attentive and well paced. I had water and coffee to drink, which by the way is very good, rich and flavorful. The entree came with a fresh, Greek salad. The dressing comes on the side so you can add to your liking. While dining, I couldn't help but notice the cooks which, much like a waffle house, are located out in front of the bar. They ran a well stocked, very clean kitchen. They displayed skill with their work and seem to have fun while working. I noticed blueberry pancakes on the skillet and at the end of my meal decided to have one a la carte. It was cooked to perfection, which was no surprise at this point. To conclude, there is nothing but love and accolades to give Five Points Restaurant. In my opinion they could change their name to Five Star Restaurant and it would not...
Read moreIve had the pleasure of dining at 5 Points, a diner located in Asheville, North Carolina, and I must say that my experience was absolutely fantastic. I had heard a lot of great things about this establishment, so I decided to try out their breakfast menu, and boy was I in for a treat! The atmosphere of 5 Points is just classic. The establishment exudes a classic diner vibe that immediately puts you at ease. The interior is decorated with old pictures that creates an enjoyable and inviting atmosphere.
The service at 5 Points is top-notch. As soon as I walked in, the staff greeted me with warm smiles and welcomed me to the bar seating. They were incredibly attentive and made sure that I had everything I needed throughout my meal.
Now, onto the food. I ordered the eggs Benedict with crab cakes, and let me tell you, it was absolutely delicious! The crab cakes were cooked to perfection and had just the right amount of seasoning. The eggs were perfectly poached, and the hollandaise sauce was the perfect complement to the dish.
What I loved most about 5 Points is that they cook everything right in front of you. You can watch the cook prepare your food and see the whole process from start to finish. This adds a personal touch to the diner vibe, and you can be sure that your food is made fresh and to your liking.
I recommend 5 Points to anyone looking for a delicious breakfast. The combination of affordable prices, generous portions, food done right, friendly staff and a clean and cozy atmosphere makes this...

Growing up in New Jersey, I’ve always had an affinity for diners. Five Points Restaurant is Asheville’s version of the classic American diner. I use the word “dive” respectfully in the title to connote a no frills, casual place with good food and service, and a little attitude on the side. Five Point’s regular crowd is a “melting pot” in north Asheville. There is more diversity on the corner of Broadway and Chestnut than probably all western, North Carolina! Starting with Polish and Greek owners who serve delicious Greek omelets, to the Hispanic cooks clinking and clanking in perfect unison from behind the busy lunch counter, to the handsome African American couples who slide into familiar booths while greeting friends seated along the counter, to Asheville’s next generation of eclectic youth, the restaurant is not fancy but for a hot meal and a welcome nod, it’s real. Before my father passed away, I brought him to Asheville. I remember feeling so proud to walk him into Five Points Restaurant. We sat at a booth along the front window. The waitress came over with her little pad of paper and said, “What are you having?” My father ordered his usual black coffee, eggs, and dry toast. “Dad, what do you think about this place?” He just looked at me and smiled. There is something for everyone here. For me, Five Points Restaurant is a little slice of New Jersey and a lot of dive...
