Krispy Kreme — Restaurant in Asheville

Horrible customer service. I ordered in the drive thru very early this morning. 3 chocolate iced donuts. I asked for 2 in one bag and 1 in another as my son was I the car with me and he wanted to eat his right away. When I pulled off, I gave him his bag and he said it was regular glazed, not chocolate. I parked and went inside and explained it was not chocolate iced. The employee glared at me and said that is what you ordered. I said I am sorry you missed heard me in the drive thru but I asked for chocolate iced. She then handed me 2 bages with the chocolate iced and put out her hand I was thinking for me to pay. I went to give her my credit card and said I thought they were the same price and I already paid. She huffed and said I dont want your credit card, I want the glazed donuts back. I was shocked and said since your hot sign is on, aren't they free. She said only 1 and wanted the other 2 back. Being even more shocked now I said my son is in the car, to which she replied then give me 1 back. I did and she took the bag and immediately threw it out. At this point I could not hold back. I said did you have to throw that out in front of me, isn't there somewhere you could donate it or something (I mean there are a lot of homeless in Ashville). I have ALWAYS LOVED Krispy Kreme-never ate anybody else’s donuts but theirs. Today was my birthday, so my husband knowing that I LOVE them so much stopped by and something told me to go in. We go in and there is a line to the door, so we wait. You look at the selection in the case and the ONLY donuts to choose from are chocolate covered and chocolate crème filled-NOTHING ELSE. Mind you the HOT light was on when we arrived. While in line waiting, we watched the girl in front of us send her cold coffee back 3 times before the guy got it right. My husband asked if they had any HOT donuts or any others and the guy taking the order told him the glazed ones were, and they had blueberry cake donuts, so he orders 1 chocolate crème filled, 1 blueberry cake and a clear glazed for $9+. We leave and my husband pulls the clear glazed HOT donut out of the bag anddddddd it was sooooo cold and stiff and guess what, so were the others. Why even have the hot light on and why only have chocolate covered glaze to choose from, when you offer so many other flavors? Needless to say after our visit and reading other reviews, I won’t go back to that location on Smoky Park Highway. This place needs a higher up person in charge to come in and act like they are only a regular customer and just look and watch………I have NEVER been to a Dunkin Donut or even considered one but if the only KK near me is going to be like this, I may...

This is the worst Krispy Kreme location in possibly the world, and I’ve been to many of them. The staff is rude or incompetent, the donuts are never good or correct, and they take forever to put an order together. And this isn’t new! A few examples:

A year ago, I ordered a bunch of donuts ahead of time for our wedding dessert and I placed the order almost a month in advance. I know how things go here so I called the week of to confirm the order and after several attempts to communicate I had to go into the store with the order number to confirm they had it. And when I asked if they’d be ready on time to pick up (3pm) I was told “I don’t know, probably but maybe not”. Ultimately the donuts were ready but they were definitely from the day before, as they were all stale.

Today, 8/23/25, we had to state our order (4 donuts) six times! Then, after we had already paid, we were told that only one of those 4 donuts was actually available. So, we went back and forth over what they didn’t have several times before asking “what actually IS available so we know what to choose from?” And then we were asked twice if we had already paid! So when we finally get our four donuts, only one of which was we expected when we paid, they’re all stale. $10 for 4 donuts later and it was a waste of gas to even drive over here.
