The manager on duty at the Tunnel Rd location in Asheville, NC at 11:15 this morning was very rude and inappropriate, both with my mother and I as well as an employee who had done nothing wrong. The employee checked in with a manager about procedure before selling me an item which had lost it's tag. She gave the go-ahead and the cashier rung up my items and sold them to me. Transaction done. The manager then became very irate and insisted that they could not sell me the item. The cashier and I explained that the item had already been sold to me and the transaction was complete. As the manager became increasingly irritable and demanding, I let her know that I will just be leaving the store and you can keep the item. No, I don't need a refund, I just don't want to be yelled at for making a purchase, nor am I comfortable watching a manager ream an employee for absolutely nothing in front of everyone. I had been standing there for some time on crutches and in pain and I did not have the energy to put into the situation. In the end, the manager said something to the effect of 'fine, you can have it then' and I said thank you, took my item, and left. This is not the behavior of a professional. This is not the behavior of someone who is respectful to others. And this is certainly not the behavior of someone creating a healthy workplace. I did not catch her name, but she was a thicker white woman with medium long straight light brown hair and the attitude of a grumpy 4-year-old. I love some of the items I can buy here, but I'm not interested in supporting this type...

That said...Way too much cool stuff in every department...like HomeWares...where I've furnished a bathroom...an art deco bedroom...and acquired a King Tutenkahmun Sarcophagus...yes...and lots of silver and stone rings...and gifts for my grandkids...my clients...and my yard.
Danger. Danger. Money will fly out of your wallet...and later, in the twilight, as you sip from your crystal stemware, propped on embroidered pillows in a languishing repose on your new flokati rug, you will lift your glass...and new ring sparkling, you will blow King Tut a kiss and put off until tomorrow what old stuff will now have to be posted for sale...
