Food was a mix. The steak was phenomenal and best I have ever had at this type of restaurant. The ground need was flavorless and not great. Needs a seasoning other than just salt in it. The Relleno was extremely disappointing this are my constant favorite. They didn't even put any meat into the the paper flavor was of in a strange way not like a normal pablano. The breading was so thick it felt like a strange textured pancake. I say breading but it supposed to be whipped egg whites it was pretty much a strange flavor pancake thing. Queso was good hard to mess up. Salsa was good. Would love to see hot sauce options other than habanero standard. Napkins were not provided till meal was served. My silverware had a butter knife the other person had a steak knife not consistent. 3 different servers asked us if we were ready to order in a spand of 2 minutes. Server didn't write anything down but the order came out right so good there. Business seemed slow but many tables were not cleared. They did not bring a bill had to check out at front desk. Kind of strange experience but not terrible. Would go back...
Read moreThe meal I had tasted good, however, it was not quite what I ordered/expected... I ordered a beef chimichanga (which is a fried item, and is described as fried on the menu) but what i got was a soft flour tortilla, just like my husband's burrito. The only times we saw our waitress was when we ordered, and when we got our ticket which was about 20 minutes after we had completed our meal and were just sitting there waiting for it. A young man did stop and ask if we needed anything shortly after our food arrived, and we asked for another bottle of salsa to use on our food and remaining chips - he never returned. The restaurant has a convenient pay at the table barcoded receipt which was nice to use and avoid checkout line. The walls had some beautiful brightly painted murals, and lovely stained glass dividers between the seats... Our end of the row booth was comfortable, and the table & bench seat were both able to slide and adjust to allow plenty of "tummy room" without interfering with the table behind us. The photo is of the wall...
Read moreAbsolutely amazing experience at Sonora Mexican Grill in Ashland, KY! From the moment we walked in, the service was quick, friendly, and welcoming.
We started with the queso with chorizo, and let me just say—best queso ever. Creamy, flavorful, and loaded with perfectly seasoned chorizo. It alone is worth the visit.
I ordered the birria tacos with rice and beans and was absolutely blown away. The tacos were packed with tender, juicy meat, wrapped in lightly crisped shells and topped with fresh cilantro and onion. The dipping consommé? Rich, flavorful, and soul-warming. The rice and beans were a perfect complement—flavorful, well-seasoned, and not just an afterthought.
My husband had the sizzling fajitas, and they came out hot and loaded with meat and veggies—everything seasoned just right. Huge portions and authentic flavor all the way through.
This place is a hidden gem. The food is fresh, flavorful, and made with care. We’ll definitely be back. If you’re in the area, do yourself a favor and try it—you won’t be...
