I worked with CEG bakery 2 weeks in advance for a custom birthday cake order. The cake order was confirmed, the pickup time and date was confirmed. On the day of, the bakery completely ghosted me. They read my text (read notification came up) and still didn’t reply back to my multiple texts asking for an update. I called and left multiple voice messages and one stating if there was an emergency or even if the cake was not done to just update me so I can make plans accordingly. I was left in a position where I didn’t know if I should make my husband wait longer at the bakery (after waiting an hour) or if we should look for other cakes. All bakeries were closed that day and we ended up buying a random Kroger cake. The whole party planned for that day got messed up because we were out trying to find a cake. And till date no message, no apology nothing for ruining such a big day for us.
The bakery was extremely unprofessional, and doesn’t seem to respect others time. Would not recommend you go with them for any events.
Response to owner: I was given no information at all about the time limit you had for payment. I have all our texts and am happy to post those for proof. There were no remainders from the business as well. There was one email when the invoice was cancelled the day before the delivery date. I had immediately texted stating that the invoice got cancelled please send another one. And truly if you felt the fault was mine then you should have had no problem replying to my texts and my calls. But rather you left my message on read as soon as I sent it and ignored every request of mine to just give me an update so I could do damage control. Once again there was absolutely no communication regarding payment time limit. And I can provide all our texts for proof.
Lastly, I delayed writing this review because I was truly worried there might have been an emergency which caused this issue and gave the benefit of doubt. But despite this courtesy, I only got the courtesy of a reply after I post a review. Once again very poor...
Read moreI’ve heard about this place from my aunt and uncle. They ordered a double chocolate cake and are long time customers. It was the best chocolate cake I’ve EVER had. My birthday was coming up so I decided to order a double chocolate cake . 6/6 was my first experience at CEG Bakery and let me tell you the customer service was exceptional and the best I’ve had thus far. From the beginning when I ordered my cake for my 30th birthday, they were warm and friendly over the phone. So here’s where they’ll FOREVER have a customer. I went to pick my cake up and these ladies were so welcoming. They gave me instructions to lay my cake on a flat surfaces when putting it in the car. Well that’s not how that went and I end of messing up my cake while driving home. When I got home I was very upset and called them to see if they could fix it. Again, they still had a warm and welcoming spirit over the phone and was willing to help me out. When I got back to the bakery they welcomed me again with open arms, and told me it was going to be ok. They gave me a treat and told me to sit down and relax. They were about to close and was still willing to help me. When they were done, I wanted to give them a tip for the inconvenience I caused, but they would not take it and told me to enjoy my birthday. One of the sisters even walked with me to my car and made sure the cake was properly placed. All while smiling and being extremely professional. These ladies have amazing customer service skills. Read moreVery disappointed. I ordered my gender reveal cake and honestly was shocked to see the results I received. My husband ordered my birthday cake two years ago from here and it was amazing but this go around not so much. I appreciated the quick turn around for my cake but I am literally undecided on how to move forward for my reveal. I will say, the owner did state I could come back to have the wording done differently but I honestly don’t think it’s worth the drive. Also the sides of the cake came off before I even opened the container. I’m just disappointed for what I paid vs what I got. I honestly think the caked needed to cool more or better handling when placed in the box. Definitely put a bad taste in my mouth for my day tomorrow but I appreciate it
Update: I updated one of the photos with a time stamp. The issue to the cake was not due to heat. I literally called my sister minuets after picking up my cake. Additionally, I arrived home approximately 30 minuets after picking up my cake. My house is typically 80degrees but my cake was out for 10 mins so I can take the pictures.. the cake could not defrost that quickly. I honestly believe it was rushed and did not have enough time in the freezer at the establishment. I have integrity. Also, I didn’t bring the cake back because I would have had to wait until 5pm to get it fixed and also drive another 15-20 mins to bring it back after picking it up.
