It was Bestie time and as always, we had to grab some Insomnia. As I didn’t feel like fighting for parking, I decided to go to the Insomnia Cookies on Cleburne Ter as there was a better parking setup. As I arrived, I quickly found my parking spot and headed in.
Walking in, I wasn’t greeted by anyone as there was no one at the counter. The space was very clean and the smell of warm gooey cookies was in the air. After about a minute or so, the staffer who was in the back came up front and asked how she could help us… it was at this moment, I should have left. Her approach to “how can I help you” was as if we bothered her by walking into the store. Furthermore, her lack of vibrancy really shifted the happiness of the cookies and ice cream effect. Ugh!
As We began to place our order, we asked for 3 Snickerdoodles and were advised “those are out, they have to go in the oven.” No further information as to how long they may take, an offer to wait on them, nothing. Every other Insomnia I have been to, if a cookie is out and the store is not about to close they advise that it has to be placed in the oven, inform you how long it will take for them to bake, and ask if you would like to wait for them. But no… the level of service today stopped at telling us they had to be put in the oven and that was it.
As I was already inside and wanted my Insomnia fix, I placed my order for 3 Oatmeal, and 3 White Chocolate Macadamia retrieved my cookies and departed.
To my dismay, the displeasing, tactless level of service I received today has turned this into a detractor experience for me. I will not patronize this location again. I’ll battle parking and risk getting a ticket before coming here again. As expensive as these cookies are, they should come with a side of service as a courtesy.
Nonetheless, my cookies were AMAZING. The recipe didn’t slack...
Read moreI'm done with Insomnia. The cookies are good, and this was probably my 8th visit in the last couple years (first visit to this location next to Majestic diner). But it's not worth my money ever again. Half the flavors I wanted to buy tonight (a Saturday night at about 8pm) they did not have. I still chose 12 cookies: 2@$5.15, 2@$4.65, 2@$3.10, and 6@$2.85. While waiting, I see on the cycling menu board "buy 6 regular cookies get 6 free". When the clerk returned from the back with the box, I mentioned the sign, expecting to get 6 regular cookies free. She argued with me, told me I could buy another 6 and I'll then get 6 free. She blamed me for not mentioning it earlier even though I had not swiped my credit card yet at that point. She definitely could have re-entered the 4 items. This even got the attention of the customer behind me who interjected on my behalf saying she planned to buy 12 and get 6 free and this applies to her. I'm not arguing in front of 5 people and I certainly don't need 6 more cookies, so I just left frustrated and will stop at Publix or Kroger or Crumble or just get ice cream or something else...
Read moreI came to this location today around 4:00pm as a first time customer. I was really excited to try these cookies as my friends have all had great reviews. The “open” light was flashing but the front door was locked. Myself and 2 of my friends could see an employee in the shop so we knocked on the door. He ignored us. So we are standing outside about 7 minutes. A security guard lady informs us the employee is present but he keeps the door locked so customers can’t crowd the shop. Ok cool. The gentleman employee opens the door and ask if we have a pick up order. I tell him no as we were just in the neighborhood having lunch and decided to come by. He tells me they are only accepting online orders and I could place an order (while standing outside) on the website or app to be serviced. He closes and locks the door. This was rude and unprofessional, 1. As there was no sign on the door that stated that and 2. We were customers already there. The professional response would have been to say “hey due to covid 19 we recommend online orders but since you are here now can I help you.” I did not order the cookies and I...
