Unlucky in Atlanta.
The family and I went down to Atlanta for the weekend to get away from home, have some fun, and enjoy the food in the area.
We have barely been sleeping because of the children's sleep cycles. So we wanted something easy, that we didn't get a lot of at home.
Lucky China 8 was nearby so we chose it, seeing something that combined my wife's favorite American Chinese food dish General Tso's with some shrimp and mixed veggies.
I called to complain about the dish received not being a match to what was on the app I used. She told me that the menu item had been "permanently changed" and that it was "improved". After responding politely to express my displeasure with the inconsistency, I was met with the same impartial discord. I then passionately expressed the fact that we had come in from out of town and hadn't had the 'pleasure' of having the original. I iterated the point of the description not matching what was received and told her that I wanted my money back for it, she told me they don't do that and that I would need to speak with her manager who I would then have to CALL. I told the woman that I didn't have anything to take down the number and that I needed to get something to write with, she kept trying to talk over me spewing the digits as I was trying to locate a pencil. I told her as much, as well as the fact that I needed her to wait so I could take it down and she hung up. At that point I truly lost it!
I called back, when she picked up, I IMMEDIATELY stated that I needed the number for the manager, but instead she just kept talking. Instead of listening to her babble more about the menu changes I told her I was ready for the number and basically begged her to give me the number. No dice, I guess her feelings got hurt when I continued to request the manager's number and she hung up again.
I have never had to call someone else to speak to a manager. Absolutely ridiculous!
So, I'm out for $12 for a dish that was not ordered and 3.25 for two egg rolls that never came.
My advice, if you want to be Lucky visiting Atlanta, DON'T ORDER FROM...
Read moreI tried really hard to give this restaurant a chance. I ordered a bunch of food just in case there were particular items that were not to my liking. THANK GOD I DID. The order took about 2 hours to get to me, and the delivery driver was friendly. I got egg rolls and dumplings as an appetizer. The egg rolls were average, nothing to complain about, and the dumplings had good flavor, but were a tad dry. I got Singapore rice noodles, house lo mein, and chicken w/ broccoli with a side of white rice. The rice noodles were a bit bland, and the meat was questionable, but the aftertaste and spice were good enough to finish without complaint. Next, I moved onto the chicken and broccoli. I picked out the pieces of meat which were also questionable after trying a few pieces of the broccoli, and I only did eat the meat because I was so hungry. My body was physically rejecting the broccoli. I tried another piece because maybe just that one was bad... but no, all of them were the same. I closed the container and was in utter disbelief. I tried the house lo mein next. The noodles were very dry and sticky, the shrimp were not fresh and very small, yet edible... but that was about the only thing I could finish. The meat was worse than the other dishes, very dry, not fresh, and combined with the vegetables I could not take more than 5 bites without having to put that away also. Unfortunately, the bag I put in the trash was not much lighter than when I got it. My stomach did not physically hurt, which was surprising, and I did like the egg rolls, dumplings, and rice noodles, so I won't give this place 1 star. I'm only now seeing the reviews as I'm writing this, so it's unbiased, but they're mostly accurate. I won't order from here again, but I'd imagine that since I did like "some" of the things I order that there are particular menu items that are far better...

I was extremely disappointed with my experience at Lucky China 8 Chinese Restaurant in Atlanta, Ga. The food was not only subpar, but it was honestly the nastiest and most inedible food I have ever put in my mouth. It was a complete waste of money and a huge disappointment for me and my office.
To begin, my colleagues and I ordered 5 combination plates and an order of crab rangoons. The total for this was $70 and we were asked how much we wanted to tip, which was a bit of a surprise since I had placed the order over the phone and picked it up myself. The restaurant's location also left something to be desired - as soon as I arrived, I couldn't help but feel a sense of unease and hope that the food would be better than the appearance of the establishment.
In terms of the food itself, it was a complete disaster. I ordered the beef with broccoli, with extra meat and extra rice and no broccoli. Unfortunately, what I received was small portions of rice and a pitifully small amount of beef that had bones in it. The beef tasted like it had been sitting in the fridge for days and the fried rice was so bad, it was almost comical. It was clearly not freshly made and it tasted like it had been microwaved with some soy sauce added.
The crab rangoons were also a disappointment, they were not freshly made and tasted like they were at least a week old. Also, the combination plates were not any better, most of the dishes were over salted and it was clear that the ingredients were not of good quality.
All in all, I would strongly advise anyone thinking of visiting Lucky China 8 Chinese Restaurant in Atlanta, Ga to steer clear and find another Chinese restaurant in the area. The food was inedible, overpriced, and the service was not up to par. It's a complete waste of money and it was not worth the time and effort to...
