Rating based on the food only, as I ordered through Uber Eats. Lessons learned for me, as I am visiting ATL & did not bother looking at google reviews prior to ordering on the app. I dont like wasting food, but was not going to risk getting sick during travel. Ordered the following on 08/05/2025 through Uber Eats: Dan Dan noodles 0/5 - if you google the dish, you will see it comes generally dry sauced with minced meat & I am very familiar with the dish. Lucky china 8's description on the app, also states "Topped with green onions, fresh seasonal vegetables & seasoned ground beef". What arrived was nothing like the description, it comes drenced in some mystery tasting sauce, no vegetables and no single piece of ground beef. Zhong Style dumplings 2/5- The description provided on the app was "Our famous & award-winning boiled dumpling... topped with sesame seeds & fresh green onions". I can verify that the green onions are fresh, but sesame seeds were missing. As for what award this dish received... I dont think it was for best taste. Dumplings were topped generously with a similar sauce they put on the Dan Dan noodles. To add insult to injury, the fortune cookies they provided with the order was stale & dense - one had no fortune, the other states "Tell a joke" Would I revisit? A strong NAO. Would I recommend? Another strong NAO.

PLEASE SAVE YOUR MONEY! This place needs to be investigated by the health department & better business bureau. And I mean that with every fiber in my body. We were so excited to finally have a Chinese restaurant that delivers to our neighborhood. I should’ve know that the flyer in the door meant they had bad business. Kicking myself for not reading the reviews. The crab ragoons STALE & tasted like burnt old grease — INEDIBLE! The spring rolls were completely BURNT & inedible. The chicken didn’t taste like chicken. One bite and I spit it out! I never wanted to believe the stories about Chinese restaurants cooking rats and pretending it was chicken, but honestly I wouldn’t be surprised if this place did. Absolutely DISGUSTING food taste & quality. My daughters are NOT picky eaters & they wouldn’t take more than one bite. They REFUSED to eat their food besides the broccoli. I was treated like I was lying when I called and told them how burnt everything was. So I immediately sent pictures and videos to the manager. I doubt I’ll even get a response. Please please please HEED my warning. DO NOT ORDER FROM THIS SO CALLED RESTAURANT. You will be sadly disappointed. And might even get food poisoning. Everyone needs to call the health department & report this place. I know I am.

Strike number one was the fact that we ordered delivery at 7 and our food didn’t get here till 9 o’clock. It took two hours for them to get us our food and once it got here, it was cold. We ordered beef fried rice and they gave us regular fried rice and we were up charged for it. We got egg drop soup and it taste like dishwater. Overall, the meal was disgusting. It was late and it was cold. We will never be going back here. Also, they think they slick by having one name on the brochures they hand out at peoples doors so you can’t leave them a bad review I’m gonna tell you. On the brochures it’s called new China Chinese restaurant but it’s these people here. I wasn’t gonna leave a review and my boyfriend is not one to complain, but he was very adamant that I write this review for them because he was very disappointed in the service and the food. Also our fortune cookies had the same fortune like do all the fortune cookies have the same fortune?

Unlucky in Atlanta.

The family and I went down to Atlanta for the weekend to get away from home, have some fun, and enjoy the food in the area.

We have barely been sleeping because of the children's sleep cycles. So we wanted something easy, that we didn't get a lot of at home.

Lucky China 8 was nearby so we chose it, seeing something that combined my wife's favorite American Chinese food dish General Tso's with some shrimp and mixed veggies.

I called to complain about the dish received not being a match to what was on the app I used. She told me that the menu item had been "permanently changed" and that it was "improved". After responding politely to express my displeasure with the inconsistency, I was met with the same impartial discord. I then passionately expressed the fact that we had come in from out of town and hadn't had the 'pleasure' of having the original. I iterated the point of the description not matching what was received and told her that I wanted my money back for it, she told me they don't do that and that I would need to speak with her manager who I would then have to CALL. I told the woman that I didn't have anything to take down the number and that I needed to get something to write with, she kept trying to talk over me spewing the digits as I was trying to locate a pencil. I told her as much, as well as the fact that I needed her to wait so I could take it down and she hung up. At that point I truly lost it!

I called back, when she picked up, I IMMEDIATELY stated that I needed the number for the manager, but instead she just kept talking. Instead of listening to her babble more about the menu changes I told her I was ready for the number and basically begged her to give me the number. No dice, I guess her feelings got hurt when I continued to request the manager's number and she hung up again.

I have never had to call someone else to speak to a manager. Absolutely ridiculous!

So, I'm out for $12 for a dish that was not ordered and 3.25 for two egg rolls that never came.

My advice, if you want to be Lucky visiting Atlanta, DON'T ORDER FROM...

I tried really hard to give this restaurant a chance. I ordered a bunch of food just in case there were particular items that were not to my liking. THANK GOD I DID. The order took about 2 hours to get to me, and the delivery driver was friendly. I got egg rolls and dumplings as an appetizer. The egg rolls were average, nothing to complain about, and the dumplings had good flavor, but were a tad dry. I got Singapore rice noodles, house lo mein, and chicken w/ broccoli with a side of white rice. The rice noodles were a bit bland, and the meat was questionable, but the aftertaste and spice were good enough to finish without complaint. Next, I moved onto the chicken and broccoli. I picked out the pieces of meat which were also questionable after trying a few pieces of the broccoli, and I only did eat the meat because I was so hungry. My body was physically rejecting the broccoli. I tried another piece because maybe just that one was bad... but no, all of them were the same. I closed the container and was in utter disbelief. I tried the house lo mein next. The noodles were very dry and sticky, the shrimp were not fresh and very small, yet edible... but that was about the only thing I could finish. The meat was worse than the other dishes, very dry, not fresh, and combined with the vegetables I could not take more than 5 bites without having to put that away also. Unfortunately, the bag I put in the trash was not much lighter than when I got it. My stomach did not physically hurt, which was surprising, and I did like the egg rolls, dumplings, and rice noodles, so I won't give this place 1 star. I'm only now seeing the reviews as I'm writing this, so it's unbiased, but they're mostly accurate. I won't order from here again, but I'd imagine that since I did like "some" of the things I order that there are particular menu items that are far better...

I wish I could give this a 0

I was extremely disappointed with my experience at Lucky China 8 Chinese Restaurant in Atlanta, Ga. The food was not only subpar, but it was honestly the nastiest and most inedible food I have ever put in my mouth. It was a complete waste of money and a huge disappointment for me and my office.

To begin, my colleagues and I ordered 5 combination plates and an order of crab rangoons. The total for this was $70 and we were asked how much we wanted to tip, which was a bit of a surprise since I had placed the order over the phone and picked it up myself. The restaurant's location also left something to be desired - as soon as I arrived, I couldn't help but feel a sense of unease and hope that the food would be better than the appearance of the establishment.

In terms of the food itself, it was a complete disaster. I ordered the beef with broccoli, with extra meat and extra rice and no broccoli. Unfortunately, what I received was small portions of rice and a pitifully small amount of beef that had bones in it. The beef tasted like it had been sitting in the fridge for days and the fried rice was so bad, it was almost comical. It was clearly not freshly made and it tasted like it had been microwaved with some soy sauce added.

The crab rangoons were also a disappointment, they were not freshly made and tasted like they were at least a week old. Also, the combination plates were not any better, most of the dishes were over salted and it was clear that the ingredients were not of good quality.

All in all, I would strongly advise anyone thinking of visiting Lucky China 8 Chinese Restaurant in Atlanta, Ga to steer clear and find another Chinese restaurant in the area. The food was inedible, overpriced, and the service was not up to par. It's a complete waste of money and it was not worth the time and effort to...
