Diligent searching on Google maps yielded several candidates. My friends and I made our selection and resolved to visit immediately following dinner. But alas! We arrived at our chosen establishment only to find that it was 9:02pm and they were officially closed. Disheartened, but not without hope, we enacted our back plan: ice cream establishment #2. We didn’t think it would be as good, but surely it would satisfy our post-super sweet tooth, right? Apparently not! Because it too was no longer open for business. We returned to our hotel with hanging heads, unsatisfied tongues, and heavy hearts. Our souls went to bed sad that night. The following morning, stormy weather reflected our lingering dejection. But it was a new day! And we would rise from the ashes victorious in acquiring our quarry of frostbitten dairy. Then, despite pouring rain, we happened upon a most welcome sight: Pecan Jack’s Ice Cream and Candy. Could it be? Had I finally found what I had been searching for? Oh my friends! The answer is yes! We were welcomed warmly even as we sampled cool dessert perfection. They bought my affections with showmanship and extravagant gifts of deliciousness. (Seriously though—ice cream aside, they were just the nicest people ever.) Every flavor transcended its title. So unique. New takes on classics. Combinations that work. Real marshmallows.
