I've wanted to try this place for a while after hearing good things about it over the years. The host seated us quickly, but it took a while for a server to come take our drink order. I'm not sure if there was confusion amongst the servers on whose table we were or what, but one of them came to our table and greeted us, hesitated like she was confused, and then walked away without taking our drink order or giving any explanation. It was very unprofessional and awkward. She walked over to another server and you could tell there was some sort of confusion going on that they were trying to work out. After probably 20 minutes after being seated, another server came over and took our drink order.
The food came out quickly overall. We ordered the lump crab cakes for our appetizer which was listed at market price; typical for something like that. The texture was very mushy and similar to what you might get from a fried salmon patty made from canned salmon. I expected to find chunks of crab meat like most places would have, but that wasn't the case. The flavor was okay, but the quality didn't seem great and the portion was small for the price.
My husband got the steam pot which had crab legs, shrimp, sausage, potatoes and corn. Everything was delicious. This was also listed at market price but we were surprised that it came out at over $50 based on similar dishes at other places.
I got a combo basket with fried catfish, shrimp, and calamari. The catfish and shrimp were both good and seemed really fresh, but the calamari was a little chewy. I had to ask for cocktail sauce which seems like something pretty standard to bring out with fried shrimp. While nothing was necessarily bad, I honestly felt like I could get the same quality from Captain D's for a fraction of the price. I also ordered the corn salad which was extremely dry and overcooked. I couldn't eat more than a couple of bites.
I cannot believe we paid over $100 for lunch for two people (with no alcohol) and got such mediocre food and sub par service. Gratuity was automatically included because our check exceeded $100. I understand gratuity being included automatically for a large party, but not for 2 people. We always tip well, even if service isn't great, but I never would've tipped so much for this experience. We paid the same amount for dinner at the Atlanta Fish Market, including alcohol. Every single bite was delicious and the service was phenomenal.

Read moreI was a customer but won’t be back after they buddied up with a booting company. In the lot behind SFU, around half the spaces are owned by them, apparently - M-F 24/7. If you park there and are not a SFU customer, you are booted, your car gets slapped with a sticker, and they charge $75 for boot removal. I asked the manager about this, and he made it seem like they had no relationship to the booting company, however, the woman who booted my car followed me in and they provided her with free drinks. So, apparently they are in business together and business is good - the booting woman proudly let me know she had just booted 4 other cars.
I understand parking is a headache for business owners. However, when you are a customer trying to support a neighboring business, and there is no available parking, yet there are many, many open spaces that apparently are “for SFU customers only” - why boot and charge $75 and slap a sticker on my car? They watched me on camera, I went in for under 10 minutes to get a to go latte.
I’ll acknowledge I could’ve been more through with reading the parking space - but With so many marked spaces (which i later realized said Six Feet under only) , and me being in a rush, I assumed the spaces were for paying customers of the plaza businesses only. There was also not a sign that was in front of the parking spot saying it was for SFU only, but The booting lady pointed to a sign that was partially obstructed, and it was unreasonable to assume anyone parking in the space I did is going to see it.
It’s disappointing that SFU is participating in these predatory and...
Read moreI enjoyed the conch and scallops were ok, but there’s nothing special about the food at all. Pretty mid IMO. The cod isn’t anything to rave about, batter is bland. I can tell They don’t source quality or fresh seafood. Even my onion rings were soggy no crispiness, they had that color I can tell they were left sitting out. This food was so bad it made me set a standard to where I’ll only eat ethnic food when I go out to eat. My beer was served to me in the same size glass as my cocktail, so they’re not giving you a full 12oz serving of beer. It’s half that and the same serving size as a cocktail. Only a moron with no idea what they’re doing would serve that to paying customers, everybody knows beer serving is larger than a cocktail. But they don’t. I’m so tired of going to these well reviewed restaurants and being disappointed and deceived apparently most people haven’t had really good food and don’t care unless it’s cooked to doneness. My dad’s gumbo tasted so watery and flavorless no soul no flavor just bland seafood soup and the shrimp were medium sized, not large not colossal. A seafood joint serving cheap small farm raised shrimp … I can get bigger prawns at Popeyes for $6 literally and they’ll have a signature batter. It’s so sad how little pride restaurants take in their food. They only see us as cattle they’re operating to graze. On a positive note the one bite I had of my pecan pie was good, my dad brought me here for my birthday. He’s very tick for tac so he took the pie because he was disappointed that I brought him there. I thought he would like it, and I’m...
