As of 05/10/2025: I have been in love with Sugar Shane’s since my first experience with the brand. However, it may be time for me to rethink my cookie fix.
Arriving at Sugar Shane’s - Midtown I was super excited. I could smell the fresh cookies as I exited the car. As I got closer to the door my stomach, brain, and taste buds all got happy. LoL!
I walked in and everyone was super busy working. The main person in the front welcomed me in and stated they would be with us in a moment… as I waited for that moment I explored the cookie case which had very few options. I looked around for a “Flavors of the Day” sign and I saw one for Ice Cream but not for the cookies.
After about 5 minutes, the staffer apologized for the delay and asked what I would like to order. I asked if the cookies in the case were the only ones available and he asked me what kind of cookie did I want.
Cookie 101: when a person is visiting a cookie bakery, you never ask them what kind of cookie they want. The point in walking inside is to experience the flavors that are available. Furthermore, when the cookie bakery is a specialty bakery, that is all the more reason not to ask what kind of cookie a person wants as we come inside to experience the creation of Sugar Shane’s - Midtown.
Ok. Back to the store… as I was caught off guard by the lack of offerings, I chose a Cookies N’ Cream Cookie and also ordered a. Scoop of the Cherry Blueberry Crunch Ice Cream.
My cookie was packed. Ice cream scooped. I paid, and was out the door.
As soon as I got in the car I opened the ice cream. Don’t judge me! lol!!!! It looked sooooooooo good. The ice cream flavor put me in the mindset of a cobbler. Though I love a good fruit cobbler, the ice cream wasn’t a win for me. The texture was grainy and there seemed to be more ice than there was cream. I wasn’t able to go beyond scoop number 2 as the small Icicles were disrupting my experience. All in all, 3/10.
The cookie was… it was a nice big cookie with a great flavor profile. It wasn’t the Sugar Shane’s - Midtown experience I remember.
All in all, I think this visit to Sugar Shane’s - Midtown has caused me pause as a consumer for a while. I might try one of the other locations and see if the spark comes back. ————————————————————————————— Allow me to begin by giving you an adjective that describes my state of being “Bliss!”
I was recently introduced to Sugar Shane’s via a conversation of friends and was excited to give it a try. All of my peers who visited promised me it was worth the trip. As such, you know I had to go!
Upon walking in, you are met with the aroma of melting morsels, brown butter, toasted nuts, and sweet memories. The staff greeted us at the door with a warm welcome which added to the comfort of the shop. The cookies were on the table awaiting my arrival which provided an eye-teasing, mouth watering, pick-a-cookie race of sugar driven emotions. LoL!
As we began to talk cookies, we were schooled on the art of Shane’s by the man himself….. Yes!!! Shane was in the building at the mixer which added to the excitement as we wanted to guess what batch was up next. LoL!
Now, you have to go to understand my next statement, but I promise you, trust me when I say… you CAN’T pick just one. With that in mind, my friends and I walked out with a Red Velvet, Cookies & Cream, Banana Pudding, Strawberry Cheesecake, and a Chocolate Chip Salted Walnut Cookie. Oh my goshhhhhhhhhh.
Each cookie provides a Mouth pleasing, Flavor enchanting, Body tingling experience. The robust flavors in conjunction with the perfect balance of sweet and gooey make for an overtaking of bite after bite goodness. Furthermore, the fact that Shane put the cookies in the warmer and handed them to us WARM….. Oh myyyyyyyy!!!! The force of cookie power was so enjoyable. HaHa
I absolutely recommend stopping by to fulfill your cookie desire. There is something for everyone. Make sure to ask if Shane is in and say Hi to him. He is a Cookie Ghuru! 🤩

since the tail end of COVID when I started visiting sugar shanes to now, I've seen Shane's franchise explode over the city. And for good reason too. No one else in Atlanta roles out new cookies (and other stuff) consistently at this level of quality in the Atlanta area. Not crumble (cuz they're borderline not cookies and def not consistent), not insomnia (good, but lack creativity), and not Tiff's. And these cookies are GUD yall. Creative concepts, contextually great execution (everything is at least a 7/10, usually 8.5+, and it's only had maybe a 1-2 month long development window), and delicious food. The only thing that can beat it is baking on your own if you're good at it and you have good recipes
Service/ vibe:
The midtown location is run like a local bakery through and through. It might actually be better to say that it's run like the neighborhood meth lab instead because of how addicting these cookies can be. They remember their regulars by name, work their butts off, and treat you right. Did I mention it's under the subway next to the mosque in a dimly lit back parking lot? The vibes here can't be beat, and they own it too (shout-out to their merch).
I gotta shout-out Big Mike first for running the og midtown lab so we'll. They hustle those cookies in there, and that man's hospitality can't be matched. One of my fav people.
Shane's a prude business man and a great entrepreneur. I still owe him a recipe I said I'd develope for him 🙈
Everyone else is hard at work on those cookies making each one instagrammably good looking and baked to perfection.
Gripes/Negatives:
These cookies are expensive. You pay for the convenience here. But this is a local business that puts more care into what they make than any other competitor Their cheesecake recipe is one of the few misses. I personally don't recommend cheesecake themed items, as the cheesecake part is usually pretty mediocre and gets overpowered by other flavors.
TLDR: if you're prepared to splurge a little because they are pretty expensive, there's no better cookie...
Read moreEvery time I push open the door to Sugar Shane’s, it feels like coming home. The air is thick with the sweet smell of cookies baking, a scent that hugs you like an old friend. And speaking of friends, I’ve got to tell you about Mike. He’s one of the folks working behind the counter, and honestly, he’s as much a part of the experience as the cookies themselves.
Mike has this knack for making you feel like the most important person in the room. He remembers your name, your favorite cookie (even if you only mentioned it once, in passing), and he’s got this infectious smile that can turn a bad day around. I’ve taken his recommendations more times than I can count, and he’s never steered me wrong. From the classic chocolate chip that feels like a warm hug to those bold, adventurous flavors that only Sugar Shane’s could dream up, Mike makes every choice feel personal.
It’s not just the cookies, which, by the way, are absolutely to die for, that keep me coming back. It’s the warmth. The sense of community. Mike and the team at Sugar Shane’s have a way of making every visit feel like you’re stepping into a gathering of friends. In a world that can sometimes feel too big and too impersonal, Sugar Shane’s is my little haven of happiness, and Mike is a big...
