I wanted to share a good dining experience with the girls in the area, so I chose Wisteria. I’ve dined here several times and my experiences were good–food as well as atmosphere. The night started fine. The ambience was still nice, our waiter was friendly and attentive but there were two disappointments: 1) unfavorable entrée selections and 2) how the owner/manager lacked good business acumen by badly handling our complaints.
My spiked cider was warm and delicious as were the oysters and chicken liver appetizers–which were beautifully plated. My guests enjoyed their mixed drinks as well. We were enjoying the evening.
Our main courses were ordered–the catfish with prawns, duck and skillet chicken entrées. The food was presented beautifully, but my catfish/prawns flavor was too “fishy” for my preference and one of my guests didn’t like the duck. I spoke with the waiter. A few minutes later, the owner/manager came to the table and asked what was the problem with the food. I told him that I didn’t like my dish because of the strong fish flavor. He proceeded to tell me that he had the catfish for lunch and it was fine. He liked it. Okay. Good for him. I didn’t like it and wanted to order something different. After explaining why I didn’t like it, he went away before hearing what my guest had to say about the duck. The waiter came back to the table and we placed orders for different entrées–the braised pork and another skillet chicken. They were okay, not satisfying but we made the best of eating it.
When the bill was presented, it still reflected the catfish and the duck instead of the replacement entrées ordered, which was a $5 difference in the restaurant’s favor. I brought this to the waiter’s attention. The owner/manager came back to the table and said, “The bill wasn’t changed because we had to throw away the food that you didn’t eat and I think it’s fair that the bill remains as is.” My guests were amazed at his comment and so was I. I chose not to make a fuss so I responded to him, “fine.” Losing five dollars won’t break me but the bill should have reflected what we actually ate. The bill totaled $180.57–including 15% tip which would have been more if I had a satisfying dining experience.
We tried to keep good cheer but this chain of events added a pall over our evening. I won’t dine at Wisteria again nor will I recommend it to...

Read moreWent for Mother’s Day. Our server did not spend time at the table, he rushed our order, didn’t know how to talk about the specials which we asked because he wasn’t going to tell us anyway. The food was very slow and the fritters had been made ahead of time and left to go soggy. The server did not bring any of our food and did mot check to make sure we liked it or needed anything. Forget ordering a second round of drinks. He didn’t even bring dessert and was in such a hurry to fill waters that each time he covered the table with water. As someone who worked in the industry for over a decade I took note and he had five tables including us inside, one of which was a 15-20 party, and was going outside also. At the end of the meal he delivered a check that had extra food and drink that we did not order on it. He didn’t come back so I had to go to the bar to ask the bartender to send him back. He comes and gets the check and delivers a new one which is still containing items for another table and tried to hand it to me at the bar when I was asking for a manager. He then wanted to argue with me about why I wanted a manager. Staff overhearing this laughed at me and the manager was right there. After I tried to tell him what happened, while he constantly tried to interrupt me, he said “I’m sorry” and “that employee didn’t even hear you” so I said that after decades of our family and extended family have gone there for special occasions we won’t be back and returned to the table. After we paid the manager came up and said he was going to discount our check. He didn’t say by how much and it was too little too late at that point. He clearly did not care that our experience was so terrible on a special day. Don’t bother going there. Plenty of restaurants in town have professional staff who care about your experience choose anywhere else. Chick Fil A would have been better at least they treat customers like they care about the experience and with some ounce of respect. Ruined our day and...
