Historic Fourth Ward Skatepark — Attraction in Atlanta

The sculpture, Wake, is the brainchild of Mel Chin, a multifaceted artist, filmmaker, and environmentalist who seeks to spark conversations around social issues through his conceptual work. This piece, Wake, depicts Jenny Lind, a renowned opera singer from the 19th century, who gained fame in the film The Greatest Showman. Born in Sweden, Jenny Lind rose from poverty to become a celebrated opera singer, known as the Swedish Nightingale.

At the pinnacle of her career in the 1850s, she toured the United States under the auspices of P.T. Barnum, a prominent circus owner. Her popularity was so profound that a clipper ship, USS Nightingale, was named in her honor, with its masthead fashioned in her likeness. However, the Nightingale had a dark history as a slave trader.

bowl skaters paradise, steep transitions 😞 not much street stuff, the red curb out front is fun with several different curb styles to play on. the city turns the lights off at 11pm only in the skating areas and makes that area of the beltline and the park super sketchy and 100% more dangerous at night. not everyone is on the same schedule ATL.. come on. i cant think of any real reason that it has to shut down at night, its not staffed. shutting the lights off just makes it dangerous. even now in early may, its almost unusuable in the...

Decent skate park. Pretty small for being the main park in Atlanta, to be honest. There are not a lot of small features for beginners, it is mostly medium and large stuff. There is not a flat bar surprisingly , and there is no small quarterpipe or mini ramp. The banks are good, vert wall is cool, and there is a curb for doing slappies.
