Davinci's Pizza — Restaurant in Atlantic Beach

What in the world happened to my favorite AB pizza place? I am SO bummed out! The problem began as soon as I called to order. What happened to the previous cheery and friendly young lady who recognized me as a return customer? The surly voice that took my call should have clued me in immediately, but I tried to ignore the lack of courtesy. The pizza I brought home obviously came from a totally different recipe or maybe it was just some leftover ingredients. It even smelled different on my way home in the car. The crust was bland and leathery and tasted like a cheap, frozen pie from a grocery store. I ordered sun dried tomatoes as one of my toppings and got perhaps half a dozen tiny pieces of tomato scattered over a large pizza. It was supposed to be an olive oil pie but there was clearly no olive oil and the normally tangy and delicious cheese from previous pies has been substituted by some melty beige substance that was tasteless and overabundant. This pie was not just a small misstep, it was terrible. After one slice each for us, the remainder of this pie will probably end up in the trash and at their new and terribly inflated price point, this is no small sacrifice. To add insult to injury, this establishment has decided to become rudely political with a large and divisive sign in the window that has nothing to do with either food or dining. What?! GONE DOWNHILL! This place used to have some of the best pizza but let me give you the reasons why I wIll NO LONGER spend my money here. 1. ONE SIZE PIZZA - Have you ever heard a pizza parlor tell you they're no longer going to make a small or a large? That is such a scam of taking people's money. Now a family with four children would have to buy three medium pizzas which literally takes all of the money out of their wallet. 2. EVERYTHING IS SMALLER - another way to take people's money is by scrimping on everything. TheIr salads were a joke and they don't even offer garlic knots anymore. And yet you have to spend the same amount of money? 3. SERVICE - people that work here don't even know how to value a customer. The owner never comes out to meet his customers and the front desk girl is aloof to everything. When we told her how everything got small and we barely got any onion she said that would be a $2 up charge. For a slice of onion? 4. CLEANLINESS - THE WORST OF ALL IS THAT WE WATCHED THE GIRL WORKING AS A WAITRESS AND COUNTER GIRL GO INTO THE BATHROOM AND SPEND ENOUGH TIME TO DO NUMBER TWO, BUT THERE WAS NO SOAP IN THE BATHROOM. We got special pepperoni pizza for the kids and everything on it for the adults! and before i say anything else pizza is pizza to me but there’s definitely 3-4dtsr and 5star pizzas!!! And, You can call me 5star Jefe because i honestly do not go to places i don’t already know they are FIRE or heard good things about! So lately, I feel like i give everyone 5 stars and maybe one day i will stop doing that, but im a genuine local born and raised at the Jacksonville Beaches and i mean i’ve lived from Ponte Vedra to Mayport and everything in between and even did a 6 month stay across the bridge with Scuba Steve on San Pablo, (but lived on a dock with a boat and Jacuzzi) so can’t complain about (town life) Back to the FOOD! The pizza is absolutely (different) i mean that by the taste from sauce to the crust and the fresh toppings (nothing frozen) It just feels like someone made their pizza with LOVE and cooked home grown vegetables straight of the farm to the table, again, My reviews are genuine and when something is wrong they will genuinely here it as well, but everything has been FIRE since i’ve started doin this review stuff more regularly and being a Local Tour Guide for Jacksonville for Surf, Skate and Supper!
