I've been twice. The first time I was looking for a casual lunch. They don't have much in the area of casual $. So I went back for dinner with my wife for her bday. We sat at the sushi bar. Don't waste your time. You can't see anything the chefs are working on. The bar is too low. I ordered drinks and asked about the Omakase menu, wanting the best they had to offer. The waiter told me to just go with the Sushi/Sashimi combo, it wasn't much different and the Omakase Sashimi didn't have any chef toppings, only the Sushi (wow). I replied that we'll probably do that but give us a minute to think about appetizers and enjoy our drinks. 5 minutes later the S/S combo was delivered. I was confused, but it was fine, because that's probably what we would have decided on. The food was fine. It was the same level of Fancy or Volcano. It was ok. I had higher expectations based on the price level and word of mouth. Based on the location, price level, quality level, I would choose other sushi options. For example Boathouse has much better chef options. I will not be returning. The hype is much higher than what's delivered. I've been to other high end sushi cities where your mind is blown. This...
Read moreBeautiful sushi restaurant with a variety of menu items. The atmosphere is lovely (except for the purple accent lighting), the service is very professional and friendly and the food was great. If I could take away half a star I would because I just didn’t think the crispy tuna rice appetizer was as good as others I’ve tried in other cities. I didn’t care for the sweet wasabi which made the dish too sweet and the crispy rice was too mushy inside. It wasn’t like other crispy rice dishes it was more like a rice patty or something. I ordered a spicy tuna roll but I added avocado, cucumber and crunch. It was good except they put a blanket of crunch on top which I thought was overkill but still tasted great! You can see it in the photo. The one other thing I’d recommend changing is the music. As a restaurant owner, I know that you can’t just play whatever you want, you have to have a subscription but the genre they were playing was American songs sung by other artists. It was annoying and I think it would be more pleasant to hear tasteful Japanese instrumental. Overall I highly recommend...
Read moreI had the pleasure of attending the grand opening event of Yamasaki last week! If you weren’t able to attend, you really missed out! The owner, Benny thought of everything!! He flew in an enormous wild Bluefin Tuna & had a cutting show by his amazing sushi chefs!! They came to every table so that everyone could enjoy a taste of this amazing crown jewel of the sea. Every patron was served delicious appetizers, sushi, sashimi & deserts. They had champagne, yuzu sangria, yuzu ginger spritz & a ginger high ball. High end Japanese sakis & whiskeys were also available. Everything was amazing from start to finish. Can’t wait for more events they have planned. A perfect upscale restaurant with high quality seafood, flown in fresh. If sushi/sashimi is not your thing, there are other meals also. Give them a try, you definitely won’t regret it, not your typical “fast food” sushi,...
