Heidi's Deli is an excellent choice for lunch! I'd rate it 4.7 out of 5 stars, located in Auburn on Turners Street. Easy to find, loads of parking, with inside and outside seating available.
Their fresh food is "the draw". As you walk into their deli, you see their "pledge of fresh ingredients" up on the wall. There's 5 or 6 fresh breads ( the sourdough bread was fantastic)to build your sandwich. Whether you desire a cup or bowl. . . . you may select from 6 different kinds of fresh soups ( I liked their creamy clam chowder, maybe a few less potatoes, and a few more clam chunks). My wife ordered up a salmon with lettuce & tomato on wheat bread. I enjoyed a triple Club with bacon, turkey, and roast beef with lettuce, tomato, and cheese. Oh, Heidi's includes a pickle, and bag of chips with their sandwich. I appreciated the speciality sodas by Boyland with natural ingredients.
This deli restaurant could easily seat 50 to 60 people inside. On a nice summer day, I bet they could seat plenty outside on their patio overlooking the mall & road. The view isn't much, but the food is worth the drive! The only thing I'd request is a good selection of micro-brew beers to compliment their...
Read moreThe staff at Heidi's are amazingly friendly! It's like walking in to talk to a group of friends and family that I've known for years and just having awesome conversation! They are always smiling and will remember you the next time you come in, which is really important to me! Their chicken Enchilada Baja Soup is EXCELLENT. It's second to none. You MUST try this soup if you like Mexican soups or tortilla soups and spices and such. Also, their French dip sandwich is good, just be careful which bread you choose to go along with it. I had a toasted sesame bread and was disappointed with my decision. I'd probably go for a softer sourdough type of bread next time. The menu is full of varieties from vegetarian to omnivore and they even sell cheesecakes and side items. I recommend going between 11 and 12 if you want to beat the lunch rush because they can get really busy with long lines. The only thing keeping them from 5 stars is their prices which seem to be a little on the high side for each item offered. It can knock a dent in your budget if you're on a tight one. Treat yourself once in a while though by giving this place a try, you won't be...
Read moreI enjoy Heidi’s because of their gluten free options, and large portions, however, now that Hero’s is in town I hardly ever go.
The prices are much too expensive here for what you get ($12-$14 for gluten free turkey sandwich!?). Yes, the sandwiches are filling, but because I have celiacs (allergy to gluten) I have to have gluten-free bread. Not only is the bread terribly small, making it impossible to get any bang for your buck, but they also use a very low quality of Gluten free bread (udis), when they definitely as a chain have the funds to buy locally.
The staff are always sweet and friendly, however they have gotten my order wrong several times when I order from them: often overcharging me for avocado on a sandwich that comes with avocado, and then completely forgetting it, to leaving any and all condiments off of my sandwich, to getting the wrong condiments. It’s very discouraging and unprofessional.
It’s always busy with a deplorable, often loud and rude college crowd. However I will say that the dining room is always clean. I really wanted to love it here, but it’s just not great quality of...
