Tacos Tecalitlan — Restaurant in Auburn

My boyfriend and I ordered tamales and tacos through DoorDash. The tamales were the worst tamales I’ve ever had, drier than the desert. I got the cheese and pepper one and it crumbled when I took the corn husk off of it, and the cheese inside was dried and crusted and same with the pepper. It was completely inedible. My boyfriend got pork and it was also very dry, but not inedible like mine. The adobada tacos were really good, the carne asada was not good in my opinion. Absolutely charred, and lots of fatty pieces. We were recommended this place from a friend and she said that their tamales were super moist. Ceviche tasted very good, good amount of shrimp and fresh. Unfortunately I purchased 3 at $3 each and there was about 1.5 worth of ceviche to cover the tostada chips. Also overall quite small. Sheimp look pre-cooked.

Shrimp taco had very overcooked small pieces of shrimp. Not worth the almost $4 price. I had already been second guessing. was size of small street taco too.

For the most part the other tacos had decent flavor and amount of meat. Steak also seemed a bit overcooked. Beef brain was interesting and there was also goat. Some tacos were just meat- no onions or cilantro on them. Random chunks of cooked onion on the plate

It pains me to give El Taco Maestro a bad review because I have been ordering takeout from them for several years. On Feb 3rd many Hispanic owned businesses shut down in solidarity to protest immigration standards. I'm perfectly fine with that. What I am not fine with is the fact that they took my money when I ordered online. I drove there to find the doors locked. I drove back there 3 weeks later with a printed out credit card statement showing what I was charged. I was told to come back another day so they could consult with the owner. I finally just filed a dispute with my credit card company and got reimbursed that way. I don't think I should have to drive there 3 times to get refunded $14.30. I also have a hard time believing that I am the only person that ordered...
