Went for a couple beers with my co-workers after a long day on Auto Row in Auburn this evening. It being a Sunday, it was a little slow, but that was okay. The old place, Jack's Tavern, may have a similar name, but these are new owners with a country-western themed bar. The old place was a dive bar, but Bourbon Jacks has a new fresh look and it's clean. Nice large screen televisions, electronic darts and they have a dance floor and even a mechanical bull that operates at times. They moved from their old Kent location. I never went there, so can't comment on past bad reviews from years ago at a different location.
So the owner, Eric, is a friendly guy who knew we had a long day. He sent over some comp appetizer called Burnt Cheese. Freakin' awesome! You know the yummy crispy cheese on top of like a baked lasagna? Taste like that, but it's not actually burnt...it's crispy. Kind of like a cheesy chip without the potato or tortilla. Served with marina sauce to dip. So good, ordered another order with Betsy, the manager.
We ordered more drinks, and since we all loved the app, I decided to give some real food a try. Talked with the head cook named Sid. He suggested the platter with pork belly, beef brisket and pulled pork. He was in the middle of smoking the pulled pork, so he checked with Ronni, the waitress, to see if we could just sub more brisket. She said, "Of course!". This dish was perfection! Pork belly melted in your mouth, instead of being chewy bacon. And the brisket was awesome. Perfect amount of salt and smoke. Served with fries. I joked with Sid that I was going to smuggle in some rice next time, 'cause I'm a transplant from Hawai`i. :)
We all will definitely go back. We'll be doing lunch there tomorrow to try the pulled pork. Thanks for a good experience and...
Read moreId hate to say this but I have been into this business 3x's. The 1st & 3rd time I had the same bartender, different from 2nd visit. The 2nd visit was amazing. The female bartender was very friendly, took my order quickly. I asked when i arrived how long it would take to get a order to go bcuz I work locally and only have a half hr lunch. My first visit I walked out after waiting 5 minutes bcuz the bartender ignored me while she was visiting with another customer while I stood at the bar waiting to order. The 2nd time I decided to try you all one more time. Different lady as i said above she was awesome. I tipped her well for her customer service. Yesterday I thought I'd come again food was so good on 2nd visit (french dip). I recognized the lady bartender as the one from my 1st visit. But thought maybe she was just having a bad day on my 1st visit. Nope she saw me but not even a nod that she saw me. Then while she was making a drink i said hi approximately how long to get a to go burger? She snapped i dont know 15-20 minutes. I replied ok great can I order a cheese burger to go when you get a chance? I only have a half our for lunch. She said you want fries cuz it comes with it. I said yes plez. Then next thing i know she picks up a plate of food walks past me down to the bar to the left of me. She sets the food down and starts eating it and talking to the customer. Didnt write down my order or take it to the cook.. I just walked out. I was there over 15 minutes. Sorry to say i wouldnt refer anyone to eat there even though the food was great. Youve got to be losing business if she treats all your customers that poorly. I will come back but wont stay if...
Read moreWish I could give 0 stars. Horrible customer service. I called and reserved a date months in advance for a bachelorette party, planning on buying the red package (400 dollars). Their employee, Lori, told me their party bus was in an accident but we would figure something else out if it wasn't functioning by the date I wanted. I called back several times in attempt to get information about the party bus. Several calls went unanswered during business hours. Once I finally got through to an employee on her first day, I asked about my reservation, I was informed Lori no longer worked there, and I was put on hold waiting for the manager to come to the phone for over 20 minutes. In the background I heard conversations between customers as well as several employees pass by the phone and ask "Is someone on the phone?" But nobody would pick it up. I eventually ran out of time and had to hang up, and despite having my name and information, I was never called back. As the date of the bachelorette party approached, I got ahold of a staff member who told me that I never had a reservation and my date was given to someone else. She tried to get her manager, Rick, to help fix the issue. He told me we could figure something else out but then refused to answer or return my calls. Two weeks before the bachelorette party I had to start completely from scratch because Bourbon Jacks refused to communicate or document reservations with potential customers. Thank God for Cowgirls in Seattle. Bourbon...
