Due to my husband's health, we wind up at the VA hospital frequently. I loved that McDonalds' was so close and I wouldn't need to venture far away while my husband was being treated. On our last trip, my husband was in the ER after having suffered a mild heart attack and was about to be admitted. Due to the virus and his small chihuahua that he wouldn't travel without, I was in touch with him on and off through our cell phones throughout the day while I waited in the car. He said the doctor was going to let me come in for a few minutes to see him but that I wouldn't be allowed once he left the ER. He asked me to hurry and get him a small meal from McDonald's, the "Bundle". I was asked to pull off to the side to wait so I did. After some time, I began watching in my rear view all the cars that came and went with their orders. I'd never ordered the "Bundle" so I guessed it must not be as quickly accessible as something more popular. I began to really worry about the time and being able to see my husband before traveling 100 miles home. Not one to relish a confrontation, I sure gave them one when I walked to the window and inquired about my order that had been bought and paid for, only to be asked what I had ordered. With no apology forthcoming, and not even an assurance that someone was on it by then, they had the gall to ask me to walk away from the window so the waiting customers could be served. They continued to open and close the window throughout our dialogue At that point, I really got mad as i had already been cast aside and forgotten as it was. I refused and said if the meal I'd already paid for wasn't for my husband at the hospital, I'd ask for a refund and just leave. I was then asked to come inside to finish the transaction one way or the other. I refused again on the premise that I paid at the window and would get the food there as originally intended. I ranted on that I had been patient and polite even though time was running out for me to be able to visit my husband and I asked just how long they thought it okay to make me wait. One employee answered that a whole new shift had clocked in but it was the same employee who originally asked me to wait at the side who was carrying food to the other cars becayse of my refusal to walk away from the window again. In light of the ommision to offer an apology, I came to the conclusion that the employee who originally asked me to wait intended racial discrimination against me since I seemed to be the only white person in sight and the only one who was asked to pull over and wait. I'll not allow McDonald's in Augusta, Ga another opportunity to mistreat me with their hateful racial...
Read moreI've enjoyed eating at McDonald's for many, many years. The restaurant actually had the "golden arches" back in the day and it was a family tradition to go there every Friday evening and eat in the car while at the restaurant. This location wasn't given 5 stars for a few different reasons. I'm not racist and don't have a racist bone in my body, so let's get that straight to start with. I hope the franchise owners are reading my review as well. Seems to me that every time I visit this particular location I never, ever see ONE white/caucasian employee working there. I believe that we have a form of discrimination and racism going on there. You can be sure that if it were the other way around, the EOA, NAACP, and many others would be wanting answers! My last visit there was very disappointing. I stood alone at the counter waiting to place my order for 7 minutes, yes I timed my wait!! Finally an employee came to take my very large order for a party of five. I had to repeat myself several times before it was correct. The sandwich buns tasted awful like the bread was outdated and crumbled in our hands. The fires weren't fresh and weren't even hot. They were pieces of broken fries that were hard and should have been thrown away and not served to anyone. The sandwiches were also room temperature. I asked for a drink carrier and they had none available. When I picked up my order I wasn't even given a "thank you" and the same thing when the order was placed. The dining room was filthy and had grease on the floors and I almost slipped and fell. The beverage counter was sticky from syrup and no straws were available. This visit was unacceptable and not the way McDonald's is supposed to be. I'm going to give this location another try and if improvements arent made, I will be taking my business less than a half mile up the street to Burger King, Cook Out, Krystal, or anywhere that shows that they appreciate...
Read moreThis place is a joke... starting with the ordering process... these people half way listen to what you are ordering then you get to the window to pay and there is no good morning/afternoon just the dollar amount and no thank you, then the pickup window.. wow! This morning we went through there as we do a couple times a week if we are on that side of town... we ordered 2 teas, a mcgriddle and a parfait. The young lady in the pickup window is NEVER friendly at all... she barely reaches out the window to pass me the teas, then the bag that has the mcgriddle in it.. then closes window. I waited until she came back and she said you need to pull forward for the parfait. REALLY? these are pre-made daily and I am being asked to pull and wait. So my response was no mam. I said no because I would have sat there another 15 mins. So after about 8 mins of waiting a lady from the kitchen area comes up to the window and snatches the bag out of the hand of the gentleman who works that area too and she slings it out the window and SLAMS the window back shut. This lady was anger that she had to put together sliced strawberries, blueberries and yogurt into a cup... it's not rocket science. She should not have conducted herself in this manner period! We called and spoke to a manager but as we all know she probably did not do anything about it. I will be looking for the owner of that location and will have a talk about this experience. It would be one thing if it was an occasional attitude but it is every time we have gone through there. Customer service is NOT a hard job.. it can be trying at times but they need to realize without customers they would...
