Charlie's Silver Spoon Creamery — Restaurant in Aurora Township

Technically, I’d give Charlie’s 3.5. I really wanted it to be more. Cute place, beautifully restored. The staff was friendly and helpful. I don’t even have a problem paying $3.50 for 1 scoop. But on a Friday at 6:30, 3 out of about 12 flavors were sold out. (Sad face.) I get a scoop of gelato. Now, I’m not claiming to be expert, but I’m pretty sure gelato should not be the consistency of crumbled cheese. The poor guy trying to put it in a scoop, then transfer it to a cup should receive a pay raise. He really tried....but it was still loose and all in little bits. (Add another sad face.)I would’ve taken a pic, but saw no point. We might give this place one more chance, as I’m sure there’s still some growing pains. But, I honestly don’t know where all of the other stellar reviews are...

This place is amazing! Excellent Covid set up. Front door is a walk up counter, and there is outdoor seating. There were several people in line ahead if us, but we still had our ice cream in less than 10 minutes. We tried the banana, mango and chocolate thunder. All were super creamy and flavorful with a balanced sweetness. Hands down best banana flavor I've found - both it and the mango were like whipped frozen fresh fruit. Chocolate thunder had a nuanced chocolate hazelnut base that was less death by chocolate and more Nutella malt - very refreshing. Really wanted to try the chocolate whiskey, but they were sold out. Excellent Ice Cream!!!! Love what they did to the building too. The inside ceiling is beautiful and the place is well decorated. I tried the Coconut and Strawberry flavored ice cream and my girlfriend had Butter Pecan and Strawberry. They both were delicious. They have a small selection of flavors but I guess that not a bad thing. Keep it simple otherwise you have people taking forever to pick what they want. There portions are small but the flavor makes up for it. The ice cream is so good you will be licking the leftovers in the cup. Great place to enjoy with the family or just hang out and enjoy good ice cream. Note: Plenty of free parking all...
