Before you read this review, I want you to know that this is not satire. As far fetched as may or may not seem, this is 100% true and I swear that there is no fabrication whatsoever.
-Prologue- This will be a review based on multiple visits.
-Book 1- It’s late summer in 2022. I’m in a call with two of my friends, we’re playing video games. One of my friends is leaving for a trip the next day, he won’t return until college starts. Because of this, we decide it’s time for one last meal as a family. The antagonist to our endeavor is the hour. It’s about 1:30am, nothing is open. We meet up and decide to drive and look around in hopes to find something open. We drive for miles. TacoBell: closed. McDonald’s: closed. IHOP: closed (probably because they’re a dying brand and can’t afford to pay people to work 24 hours). It’s about 2am. At this point we’re starving and depressed. Suddenly, we see a muddy yellow light emitting from a restaurant by the fox valley mall. A Denny’s stands there with all its glory. We make our way inside. We expected the worst, but got a very pleasant experience. The waitress was a lovely young woman who seemed rather stressed. It seemed like she was bussing, hosting, serving, and possibly even cooking on her own. Despite this, she managed to have some light banter with us, and I see her as my sister to this day. The food was warm and tasted great. It went in and came out in five minutes, just like the service. Overall we were satisfied with our meal.
-Book 2- This weekend in late October, I came back from college for the weekend. Me and some friends went back to this dennys at yet again, another copiously late hour (1:45am). Given the overall positive experience we had the first time, we went in with high hopes. Boy were we wrong. As we’re in the car, a woman comes out and pukes behind the car next to us. At the time, it should’ve been a sign. I typically try to disassociate the contributions customers bring to my experiences, but this time I don’t think I can with good consciousness. As we make our way in, we’re greeted with a cast of what I can only explain as characters. We see a monkey, a man in a suit, a man with a beard that’s many colors and an antisemitic patch on his jacket. There were so many ‘characters’, I was as overstimulated as a preteen listening to dubstep for the first time. Sadly, our experience with Denny’s ends here because we were given a 40 minute wait time.
-Epilogue- These two experiences are my most recent ones with this Denny’s. Though the energy is very different, there is one thing in common. They both gave us memorable Characters. While we were lucky to meet a rather enjoyable one in the first book, the second book gave me something else. So to give an idea on what to expect from Denny’s, here there you go. You will meet a different cast of characters every time you go. Given the inconsistency of them, I rate this Denny’s a 3/5. If I could give it a perfect half score of 2.5/5, I would because it’s honestly a 50/50 on what your...
Read moreI liked Cathy or Catherine our server she was very nice and soft talking very caring and just pleasant. The man what I assume is the manager seems like he has too much stress and his lack of joy and friendliness can come off as rude to the first impression, but upon reviewing the matter he's not rude, he just doesn't have a sense of humor nor charm like many of the waitresses. The place was clean and seemed understaffed or keeping low amount of people seated due to covid and probably keeping less people in the building to lower the risk of contamination amongst a full house. If that is the case then well done to ensure safety. If understaffed then terribly sorry and wish more personal would wish to work. The food however... it was fast to arrive and mostly all came soon after the first plate was placed. We were given more napkins and offered hot sauce, they gave us some maple syrup. We loved that we were a full empty table away from the next ones sitting near us. We were offered a to-go container and a to-go cup for a milkshake we hadn't finished. The floor under our table was clean and our table was not sticky at all but very clean and dry. Our seat was also clean and dry sticky free. Wish the music was a line higher to hear better the music but over all it was great that they had nice pop music. Very relaxing for my kids to hear. 3 triangular paper advertisements on the table were our only negative part on the table. Overall our visit was good. Inflation is making drinks higher and we understand but 4.99 for a strawberry lemonade from a box,or at least it tasted like so, is not the best for us....
Read moreWatch your order receipt!! I called this Denny's to place a order for pick-up at a future time (a hour and half later) when I was going to be in that area. The worker (female) I talked to had a really hard time to understanding what I wanted. I knew exact name of the items I wanted and the sides that came with them. I asked for the Slamburger. (This was one of two items I wanted) I did not want bacon on it because I can not eat it. I thought everything was set. I got there a few mins early and checked the receipt that was emailed to me. The worker added that I wanted to sub the patty for a Beyond Burger which added a $2 charge. Well I know I did not ask for that because I am allergic to the Beyond Burger. I went in and asked a different worker (male) what a Beyond Burger was just to be sure. He explained it was a non meat sub. I explained I was allergic and could not eat it. At first he was just like Oh!! He finally said he would have it remade the right way. It would take 10 mins. I had no problem waiting because it would be something I could eat. Well I said I would pay my bill and wait in my car. He did not take the $2 charge off. I finally just paid it. I needed to have something to eat. When my meal was brought out it was made right and was good (that is why the two stars. Because it was really good but the service was not). I am glad I looked at the receipt because if I had eaten any of the Beyond Burger I would of gotten sick due to my allergy. So please becareful when...
