I would give zero stars if possible. I have spent thousands of dollars at this store for my coffee going back over 10 years. Recently they have lost me as a customer forever. I urge you to reconsider shopping here. What did it for me was more than just the increase and price and decrease in quality. It was their terrible customer service. I went into the store ready to buy $500 worth of coffee (i buy for my friends and family when we all run out). However the service was abysmal. A clique of employees were standing around behind the counter chatting about some party or something and were completely ignoring me. Then when I managed to get their attention by almost yelling "could i get some service please" , one of them peeled off of the conversation and showed obvious disdain for pulling them away. I recited my order (very long for the dollar amount) and then the girl said "I'm sorry I didn't get all that could you repeat it?" So I recited it again only to have her say again, "I missed some of that, let me get something to write it down". So after the third recital, she started grinding it. About halfway through the order, she put a few pounds on the counter when I noticed it was not ground for the type of brewer I had specified. She insisted it is what I had asked for but she was wrong. After a near argument, she relented to start grinding all over the correct way. It took close to an hour for what should have been a 15-20 minute stop (there were no other customers). I will never buy coffee from them again after being treated this way. There are plenty of coffee roasters in the round rock area. Oh that is the other thing I have to travel all the way from Round Rock just to be...
Read moreFirst time visiting was such an amazing experience. The staff are all SUPER helpful and great for all "levels" - whether you're an experienced coffee/tea enthusiast or if you're just starting the journey. They took great care in helping me find what was truly best for me. All the associates work together collaboratively, even when they are busy. I love that! Not to mention, the interior itself is very cute and well organized. Loads of accessories and gear for coffee and tea hobbies alike. They have a BUNCH of coffee stuff, I think the only thing I didn't see was espresso gear specifically (tamper, WDT, portafilter, etc.) but that's okay. Maybe they sell it and I didn't see it? This place is just great. They're even flexible on their coffee sizes if you're trying a new blend/roast for the first time. They also pack the bag in front of you so you know it's the freshest of the fresh. This will be my go-to place for beans from now on. Can't speak highly enough!
(For those visiting for the first time, there is street parking as well as a tiny parking lot right in front of the store. Their entrance canopy thing is now black instead of red, but should still be easy to see from the road. Keep in mind they don't sell drinks here, but you should definitely buy their tea/coffee and brew it at home!...
Read moreDisclaimer: I have not been to the shop in-person. This is merely a review utilizing my PERSONAL OPINION of the quality of coffee sold at Anderson's.
TL;DR: If you're looking for lighter roasts, or '3rd wave' coffees, this probably won't be your go to. If you want fresh beans and darker roasts, you'll love it
My go-to coffee roaster was in a 'slump' so I decided to try something new. I found Anderson's online (I'm in the Dallas area) and decided to give them a go. I got 5 1lb bags: â˘Sumatra â˘Dark Sumatra â˘Papau New Guinea â˘Guatemala Palhu â˘Arabian Mocha
To be transparent, I tend towards Light to Medium roast. I think all 5 bags are a bit over-roasted, with the Dark Sumatra being the most so (very oily beans), and the New Guinea and Guatemala beans being the least so (just the smallest trace of oil on some of the beans). Across the board, the profiles are very similar (Smoky, present bitterness, with the 'lighter' roasts having just a smidge of spicy nuance).
As to the positives: Andersons is extremely efficient. I ordered Thurs AM, and my coffee was here Fri AM! The beans are also VERY fresh. Every bag I've tried, the bloom has been massive.
I wouldn't buy again for myself, but I would get the beans for family/friends who really enjoy darker coffees. For the price and freshness, it's...
