The music they play is so bad.
I want to give this place an honest chance but the music is so bad that I’m not able to get into the moment or enjoy my experience. I’m not being dramatic, it’s that bad. It’s 12 noon and it’s so loud, it becomes distracting. The place has so much atmosphere, but it’s a bummer about the music. It takes away from the beauty and natural ambiance of the establishment.
It seems like the overall vibes of the place are leaning into the Austin style. I strongly consider they play something easier to digest that isn’t just 2014 top 40 hit BS. I’d recommend outlaw country or any local/texas stuff. instrumental, or ambient music at least. Even no music would be better and more relaxing. If I wanted to dissociate to 2014 hits by the Chainsmokers ft. Halsey remix I’d go to Forever 21.
Bottom line, the music makes me not want to come back, and it ruins the entire experience. I can easily go anywhere else and not have to deal with it. It’s unfortunate, but it could be such an easy fix and such a drastic improvement if they played anything else.
I’d give the atmosphere 1 star solely based on the music hindering everything else but I had to give it 2 to give credit to the beautiful outdoor area. To be honest tho, I’m ashamed to be here at the moment. And this sense of shame breathes new life when each silly song comes on. I came here hungry, and myself losing my appetite, so instead I came here to write this.
The music,...
Read moreMuch like chivalry, customer service seemed dead—until I encountered your general manager, Cameron, last evening at Chalmers. My girlfriends and I reached out to Chalmers via Instagram DMs to ask if they would be streaming the LSU game, and they told us they would be. However, upon arriving, we realized this was not true. My friend Caroline went to ask if there was any way they could turn it on one of the TVs. Cameron delivered, but he didn’t stop there. After we settled into our seats to watch the game, Cameron came over to apologize again for the miscommunication and brought us a free round of drinks. That prompted me to tell Cameron I would be writing him a stellar Yelp review. Throughout the evening, he returned to our table to chat and pick up our empty cups. At one point, I asked him if he had a piece of gum, and he ran to the back to deliver not one, but two pieces! Cameron is an outstanding example of how customer service can retain customers and leave a lasting impact. He went above and beyond what was necessary and was a pleasure to be around. I liked Chalmers before, but now I LOVE Chalmers, and you have Cameron to thank for that! I’ll be singing Cameron’s praises...
Read moreThey try so hard to be an "Austin Original" it's a mockery. This heavily gentrified UT sports bro bar is about as authentically Austin as Taco Bell is Mexican. What a disaster.
While their outdoor space is at least a refreshing place to pound white claws with everyone under 21 (Good catch there door guy), all their "artisanal" cocktails come batched from a tap. The bartender literally opened a faucet, filled my glass, then stared me down for a 30% default tip. Stop it.
You get a star for being dog friendly. That's a plus.
The food is trying way too hard to be interesting but they miss completely. The "Crack Wings" are just frozen, deep fried wings, dry tossed in Tajin (Chili lime salt). They're so bitterly salty we couldn't eat them. Like what are you doing? Whatever Californian told you to toss wings in Tajin needs to leave. Seriously. If you don't understand what it's for, don't use it.
I will not be returning. I'd highly suggest you don't either. Go somewhere actually local and support the places that corporate trend companies like...
