Going to Austin is becoming a tradition for tubing in the spring and Texas Craft Brewery Festival during the fall. It goes without saying there’s another opportunity to try a new eatery. The choices are so vast in Austin but this place has been in my mind because of wonderful meal and service. Doc B’s named after the owners father who was exactly that; a doctor. The place was sleek and had options for the patio. It just rained so it was slightly muggy and we decided to go inside. It you have pups it’s perfect to people watch and they will bring out bowls for your furry one. Inside the space it opened to a lovely bar, you can see the kitchen as you see kitchen staff buzzing around. We had the lay of the place looking around seeing art deco photos of iconic music artist. I quickly snapped a picture of Prince, so they were already good in my book. The menu wasn’t vast but the descriptions made deciding on a meal as difficult as quantum physics. We wanted it all. It all sounds absolutely amazing. The brunch has really healthy options. The first thing that leaped off the menu was Famous Candied Bacon. I wondered how it would vary to First Watch’s Million Dollar bacon. Doc B’s really was like candy. It’s presented in a snifter glass like a lovely bouquet. It had a toffee crispness that I enjoyed but I would consider this being a sharable item because of the sweetness. I loved it. Then I had the Cinn-A-Swirl Pancake. It’s huge and liken to a giant cinnamon roll than pancake. So, I’m not a big icing or syrup person and asked to have the icing on the side. That was probably my mistake because it made dry, and I’m sure it was would have soaked the pancake. It should have had continuous icing to pancake ratio. It needs the icing with maybe a little butter to truly enjoy it. I’ll have to try it again, because that what happens when you make adjustments to orders (shrug). The one thing that kept me thinking about it every single day after having it….the wings. Those wings are freaking amazing. The price point will give you pause at $15.00 until you find out you have 1 ½ of wings. Out of the three people at the table we all had some and loads leftover. I was trying not be greedy because it was someone else’s meal and only got two, but I should have apologized and ate three more. The oven roast wings are lovingly coated with chimichurri, reggiano, and lemon. The chimichurri is a wonderful Argentinian sauce full of garlic and goodness. You can taste the sweetness of the lemon through eat bite. The wings are crisp and tender on the inside. Just beautiful to see being delivered to the table and great to eat. It was a great dining experience and glad there’s a new location in Dallas. I can’t wait to go and enjoy those wings again. Pro-Tip download their app to get $10.00 off your next meal. The have a rewards program when you purchase $150.00 you get $10.00 coupon as well. It’s going to be easy between brunch, their happy hour and regular dining. Go make a house...
Read moreDoc B’s is one of our favorite places to eat. The food is delicious and yummy, the team is fantastic, and everyone is hardworking and committed to providing the best customer experience.
It all started last year on a trip to Miami, where we were looking for a local restaurant (not a franchise chain), and we ended up finding Doc B’s on Yelp. We went for dinner and loved their 1-pound meatball and crispy chicken sandwich with sweet potato fries. We liked it so much that we returned three times in 5 days.
Then every time we traveled, we looked to see if there was a Doc B’s in our destination. Long story short, we ended up visiting almost all locations (Miami, Austin, Dallas, Chicago, and Tampa), and we loved the experience and consistency in all of them. We did miss some icons on the menu, though, such as the 1-pound meatball and Oreo Ice Cream.
There was a situation that made us become fans of this restaurant. We were visiting Austin this past February, and we ordered a 1-pound meatball. Then at the end of the service, the waitress asked about our experience, and we told them that we had tried the 1-pound meatball two times in Miami, and the bread was way better. Then 3 minutes later, the manager, John, came up to our table and told us that he noticed that the bread in Miami was a bit better and he was looking for another supplier in the area. He said he would take it off our check, and we said no, that we had a good meal.
Since then, we have become more fans. We moved to Austin recently and have been to Doc B’s many times that we’ve lost count. It’s nice to know that the food is fresh and we can taste it. It’s pretty interesting to see the logistics in the restaurants and how the staff is happy. Without even realize, we ended up getting to know most of the staff members, and most of them stopped by our table to say hi, and that’s nice. We became so used to the quality that we notice when something comes to the table that is not Doc B’s quality, and it’s nice that the management team is always open and asking us for feedback.
A big shout out to all the staff members at Doc B’s, especially the one at the Austin location. You guys are lucky to have John as a manager for this location. We can see that he takes the business as he was the owner. Keep it up,...
Read moreDoc B's at the surface may come across as another Paul Martin type of a chain. Middle of the line, American comfort food with good brews. Tries to please everyone but not special enough for being memorable. Well, I'm glad to write that Doc B's blew away my expectations. Amazing food, great service, and a cozy atmosphere, all for a very reasonable price. Absolutely perfect for shoppers and office workers at The Domain.
Let's first start with the food. It is so rare that each and every dish was way above average. But let me call out a few. The 1lb Meatball is to die for. It has a spicy kick to it and the sauce can easily be used as a dip for any bread or fries. The sweet potato chips that they give you is addictive. You continuously chew on them with beer. The French Fries were fresh cut and made wholesomely. My Knife & Fork cobb salad was also really well put together with the ingredients not being overpowered by the dressing. And the home-made Oreo ice cream again hit it out of the park. It definitely wasn't a commercial Oreo-flavored tub they were scooping from. Top all of this up with a good selection of brew and cocktails. Again, the theme may be similar to Paul Martin's but their food is absolutely a couple notches higher up.
My party was about 14 folks and they put us in 2 separate booths although adjacent. Initially we hesitated a bit cause we all wanted to sit together but I think this ended up better. Conversations were easier in a booth setting and we ended up having a fabulous time. Service was prompt and friendly.
The atmosphere and interior is a classy American lounge that is super cozy. It's definitely not a sports bar feel but rather a bit more upscale library or cigar lounge type. Not gaudy and just right. The space is optimized for group dining, especially for families grabbing a bite while shopping.
Doc B's hits it out of the park in many ways. Absolutely will return. Want to try many...
