I could go on and on about how great the museum is, because it is. However, everyone has done that already. I would like to talk about the customer service. Carson went above and beyond for my me. I am a mom that doesn't get a lot of "friend" time. I was supposed to go to the museum on December 19th, but my kids got sick. One of them was diagnosed with flu A and I started feeling under the weather. I did not want to go on the friend date because one of my friends is pregnant. Anyways, I ended up being diagnosed with covid two days later. So thank goodness I didn't go! Carson had reach out to me to leave a review and I told him I couldn't because I didn't come. Even though I thought the tickets were not transferable, he went ahead and transferred them. I then had to make arrangements to go with my wife. She's a firefighter, so we were able to make arrangements to go while my kid's were supposed to be in daycare. He not only changed the date and time for me, but he even gave me a ticket for my wife! How wonderful! Unfortunately though, this little winter freeze came through and our preschool canceled on the day we were supposed to go. I emailed Carson and told him that I had my children now and that I had to accommodate for naps and that we wouldn't it be able to show up at noon. He allowed me to change my time to later in the day. I also talked to Abbie on the phone who was very helpful. When we got there, We were welcome by everyone. Abbie was there and took lots of pictures and helped out. She was super friendly! Carson actually came up to me and assumed that I was who I was.. of course I had children and a wife! And many time to chat with me and introduce himself. I can't believe they went above and beyond for my family. I was so bummed out to not be able to go, and everything worked out. And even though the children were a little bit of a handful, we still had a great time. I would...
Read moreI recently visited the Museum of Illusion in Austin and, unfortunately, had a very disappointing encounter with the assistant manager that negatively impacted my experience. I asked an employee if there was a place to check my friend’s stroller, as I had seen information about this online. She kindly informed me that there wasn’t, and we proceeded with our visit.
However, a short time later, the assistant manager approached me in a way that felt unprofessional and intimidating. Without any greeting or politeness, he demanded that I show him where I found the information about stroller check-in. His tone was rude, and he wouldn’t leave until I attempted to find it. As someone who values good customer service, I was shocked by his confrontational approach. He eventually left, but I was left feeling shaken and uncomfortable.
Later, I found the information I mentioned, which was included in the email receipt. It says: “Strollers are welcome but recommended being checked in.” I received it after purchasing tickets, not on the website as I had initially thought. While I was mistaken about where I saw the information, nothing justifies the manner in which the assistant manager addressed me.
The museum itself is small but interesting, and it could have been an enjoyable visit. However, the way I was treated by the assistant manager made me feel unsafe and unwelcome. After reading another review describing a similar experience, I felt compelled to share mine as well. Customer service is crucial, and I hope the museum takes this feedback seriously to prevent others from having a...
Read moreThe Museum of Illusions Austin was a really fun and unique experience. I loved that each exhibit included clear explanations of how the illusions work and which senses they play tricks on — it made the visit both entertaining and educational. They even mark the best spots to stand for taking photos or videos, so you can capture the illusions perfectly on your phone without guessing where to position yourself.
When we visited, they had a playful scavenger hunt going on with small rubber ducks hidden throughout the museum. Each duck had a discount percentage printed on it, and you could use it toward purchases in their gift shop — some were as much as 20% off. It was a fun little extra that added to the experience.
The museum isn’t huge, so you can easily fit it into your day alongside other activities, but that also means it’s not overwhelming. You’re free to move at your own pace, spend more time on your favorite illusions, and skip ahead if something isn’t your style.
Overall, it’s a short but memorable attraction that blends creativity, science, and a bit of playfulness — perfect for families, friends, or even...
