P.Terry's is a lost love that I found. For the past five years I have been going to the Austin Film Festival for great workshops and no sleep.
I have stayed at the Driskill Hotel each year I have been to the festival, but I was starting to get bored of the free luna bars in the lobby. Last year I was in a scramble to get some food between session breaks, and if I was going to eat another luna bar I was going to go snap. I didn't know where to go that was cheap, good, and fast near the hotel.
There are several sit down options in the area that are fantastic, but you need time to enjoy these restaurants. From the sign outside P.Terry's, I was thinking it was a hole in the wall and I didn't want to go in.
But, one day while walking past the restaurant there was a huge line up out the door. I thought to myself, if there is a line up this big, I have to go in. I looked at the menu as I waited, and noticed it was a lot like in - n- out burger. Basic menu, with burgers and fries as the standouts.
I got excited to think if this is anything like in-n-out, I will be in heaven. I ordered a double cheese and fries and ice tea and headed back to the hotel across the street.
While I sat on the patio of the hotel to enjoy my lunch, I opened the bag and the smell that came from the bag made me want to dive in fast and devour hard all the food in the bag.
Let's just say that the first bite of my burger, I was sold. My in-n-out burger desire was replaced! The food tasted so fresh, and hot. Oh, and it was cheap. Everything I ordered was under 8 bucks, and this fast food joint didn't scrimp on the amount of food given. I was sold from there.
Even though I heard on my most recent trip that an in-n-out burger had opened in Austin, I wasn't going to betray my new love...
Read moreI have never left a review before. I always thought people were weird for leaving bad reviews. But PTERRYS on 6th have left me bewildered and confused as too what I just experienced. I got a drink and burger. The drink tasted honestly funny and so I naturally nicely requested another drink. And they told me I was wrong, that there was nothing wrong with the drink. SO they made me feel stupid. They then wanted me to pay for a totally new drink, which I was going to, until the DUDE gave me attitude about leaving the old drink on thier counter. HE refused to let me pay for a new one until i did. I didn't want to throw a full large cup of liquid in the trash. BUT he demanded that I did before ordering a new one. I ended up throwing away liquid and all, and left without paying for another. I didn't want a new drink at that point anymore. I felt the entire incidenet could have been avoided by just letting me have a new drink. The staff has ZERO professional customer service. I kind of want my money back but its not worth it. Thanks for the service I guess. STILL SO CONFUSED... I was really nice and tried to be accomodating where I could. im never the one to give attitude to costumer service providers because I work in the industry too but there is a way to talk to costumers and they did not have ANY respect for their costumers . Granted it is dirty 6th so they probably deal with a lot of...
Read moreRacist and cowardly staff member. Only yells at Asian girls who are too polite to raise their voice.
On Saturday the 26th, my friends and I had an infuriating experience in your store at 515 congress ave, Austin. We finished a film at the Paramount theatre and went to your store to grab a bite.
There were two staff members at the register. A white guy with short hair and ear piercings seemed to be training the other guy who wore a hat. One of my friends walked up to order first. Since two staff members stood at the register, another person in my group asked the guy with ear piercings: “can I order?”. That guy pointed his finger at my friend, and yelled: “No! Wait your turn!”.
Before we could say anything, he turned and yelled at another customer who wanted to use the restroom: “Where are you going!? Come here, take the key, and you need to say ‘excuse me’”.
I stared at him and waited. His attitude changed completely when it’s my turn to order - he talked softly and politely, what a surprise.
I can’t help but feeling that my friend was being targeted because she is a timid Asian girl. All she did was asking a simple question, and she asked nicely. Your staff member practiced selective outburst, and he picked someone whom he knew...
