🍳 NEW BRUNCH ALERT IN AUSTIN, TX 🍳 Mexta is bringing elevated Mexican brunch to Downtown Austin! 🇲🇽✨ Helmed by Michelin-recognized chefs Mikel Alonso and Jonatan Gómez Luna, Mexta offers a brunch experience that blends authenticity with innovation. Here’s what we ordered: 🍤 Vuelve a la Vida – a refreshing seafood cocktail that’s a nod to coastal Mexican flavors. 🍳 Chilaquiles con Huevo – crispy tortillas smothered in salsa, topped with a perfectly cooked egg. 🌯 Nuestras Enmoladas – enchiladas draped in rich mole sauce, a harmonious blend of spices and chocolate. 🍓 Fruits and Honey – a light and sweet medley to balance the savory dishes. 🍊 Fresh OJ – freshly squeezed and bursting with citrusy goodness. 🥂 Mexta Mimosa – a classic brunch cocktail with a Mexican twist. ☕ Café de la Olla – traditional Mexican coffee infused with cinnamon and piloncillo. 📍 Located at 106 E. 6th St., Suite #1#110Austin, TX 78701 🕒 Brunch Hours: Saturdays, 11 AM – 3 PM #Me#MextaAustinr#BrunchInAustinT#ATXBrunchu#AustinEatsi#MichelinGuidee#MexicanCuisineo#DowntownAustinu#AustinFoodier#BrunchVibesi#MimosaTimea#CaféDeLaOllau#VuelveALaVidah#Chilaquilesn#Enmoladasu#AustinRestaurantsT#ATXFoodiese#WeekendBrunchu#AustinTXr#BrunchGoalsa#TastyBitesu#AustinDrinksa#EaterAustinu#AustinFoodScenea#casslikestoeato#hosted

Overpriced, Poorly Managed Group Dining Experience – Not Worth It We recently brought a group of 18 to Mexta, expecting a premium dining experience. While the ambiance and presentation were solid, the overall value, service, and group accommodations were severely lacking. The Billing Issue We originally reserved for 23 people, but five dropped out last minute. Rather than adjusting the bill or even attempting to work with us, they charged us for all 23—even though they could have easily given away the extra seating. Given that we were already spending $3,000+ for dinner, this felt incredibly rigid and unfair. Food Portioning – Not Enough for What You Pay The food was served family-style, but the portions were shockingly small. They gave us just one steak dish to be shared among four people, meaning we barely even got 0.7 entrees per person. For $170 per person (after tax, tip, and fees), that’s just unacceptable. Appetizers were nice, but there wasn’t enough actual food to make the meal feel satisfying. On top of that, the vegan guest in our group was served only cauliflower and spinach—no protein, no beans, no substance. For a Mexican restaurant, that was especially disappointing. Service & Seating – Poor Group Accommodations Beyond the food, the group dining setup was poorly managed. Despite seeing a completely empty private room upstairs that could have fit our entire party, they crammed us into the open seating area at three separate tables. If we’re paying a premium for a group experience, we expected to actually be treated like a group—not split up in a loud, public space. Lack of Customer Care When we brought up our concerns to the manager, she refused to make any accommodations, simply saying, “that’s just the way things are.” There was no attempt to fix the situation, no flexibility, and no real customer service. Final Verdict – Not Worth It For a $3,000+ bill, we expected an exceptional group dining experience. Instead, we got small portions, unfair charges, poor seating, and dismissive service. The servers themselves were great, and the presentation was nice, but that’s not enough when the overall value is so lacking. If you’re planning a group dinner, Mexta is NOT worth it. There are plenty of other high-end restaurants that offer better food, fairer pricing, and actual hospitality. We won’t be coming back.

I wanted to like this place but unfortunately it felt far short of expectations, especially for a Michelin recommended restaurant (though perhaps I should’ve been more skeptical given it had only opened <8 months before it was recommended). The restaurant itself is beautiful, of course. Very architecturally interesting and a cool, sexy vibe. Waitress asked us what we wanted to drink as soon as we sat down, and we obviously hadn’t had time to look at anything yet. She then didn’t come back for about 10 minutes before we got our drink order in finally. When told I didn’t like sweet drinks, she said that the four I asked about were all sweet, which didn’t bode well for the small-ish drink menu. Placed our drink orders as well as an order for the tetela. Took about 20 minutes to get our drink in a mostly empty restaurant on a Tuesday night, didn’t get the tetela for another ten minutes after that. We then waited more than another full half hour to get all our remaining items at once, including one more appetizer from the raw bar. It was difficult to eat a raw dish (though it was also partly cooked), the entree, and a side veg all at the same time. On to the food: - Tetela was mostly tasty, though it was overwhelmed with the tad-too-sweet sauce. - the shrimp aguachile was prob the best dish we had but it only had three shrimp and was literally two fried tacos filled with potato and chorizo, which was definitely good but also not what I expected or thought of as an aguachile - Tikin xic salmon—one of the two pieces was extremely undercooked; salmon itself wasn’t seasoned at all - roasted cabbage—cabbage itself was good but the pipian sauce was tasteless The drinks we had were also underwhelming, and we were disappointed enough with the food that we skipped dessert. Also, a strange tidbit: it was my birthday, and we were told they give a free whiskey sour for birthdays. An odd thing to offer for a birthday and even odder drink choice for a Mexican restaurant. Overall, for a $200 bill, we were extremely disappointed and wont be coming back here when Austin has several other great interior Mexican choices.

My husband and I went today for our anniversary. We love to sit at the bar in places and watch people make drinks, talk to those around us, and just be relaxed. My husband and I work together and have 2 kids and sitting at a bar and getting out isn't always an option for us, so he made a reservation to sit at the bar months before. The host changed our reservation from the bar to a table because and didn't ask if that is what we wanted. We asked to still sit at the bar and they sat us in the corner. We even had to ask for a chair because there was no room. The couple next to us left and we moved down (mult staff members at the bar said it was okay). The host came and told us we couldn't move and said they had a reservation for the places we were at even though they had changed our original reservation. In a bothered tone she said we could stay but she had to ask the manager (who never came), so we stayed. No one came to sit around us. Then we ordered our meal. We got the guacamole with the salsas (delicious), brussels, and a ribeye with plans for dessert. The brussels were great! Regarding the ribeye, our waitress (who was phenomenal) said it was the bone-in ribeye (as pictured online). When the ribeye came there was no bone and the meat was overcooked (confirmed by waitress) since we had ordered med-rare, and the cut of meat was subpar for $90 ribeye. We eat out a lot and order steak frequently, this ribeye was laiden with fat, thin, and just terrible. We asked to speak to the manager. My husband didn't eat one piece of the meat and the manager apologized for our experience. She comped the steak stating they changed from bone in to boneless a week ago. Our thoughts are they went with a new cheaper distributor and saved money by serving worse meat at the same price point. She asked if we wanted anything instead and at this point we declined as every interaction was difficult except for our waitress. My husband paid the bill of $100 for Brussels, guac, 2 glasses of wine and we left. We went down the street to Dean's Italian steakhouse and had an excellent filet with delicious bread! 100 percent recommend this place! Please do not eat here, save yourself the time and if you are here before, do know they changed the quality! Happy...
