2024 review: Did the the app-based get a free chicken sandwich if you spend $10 deal. Service was decent, They did forget my French fries and I had to ask for them, good thing I noticed before I left. The chicken sandwiches were delicious. They have a ghost pepper chicken sandwich that has a pretty good sauce on it. I'm going to increase the stars from 2 to 4 based on my most recent trip. But buyer beware. See previous review.
2019 review: The primary chicken sammich is great. The sammich is 4.99 alone. 10.29 with combo. However they charge extra for mac and cheese, and a regular size to drink. NOTE they don't tell you they're going to do that. I mean, not that it was that much money, but the bill being a whole dollar more than you expect is strange. I do math in my head and I'm not conflict averse, so I asked kindly why did we get charged this extra fee? Was this not included with the combo? The communication was not great from their end and they're like oh that's the drink and I'm like. Yes, the drink that came with the combo?
What I got out of the scenario is they were out of the correct cups, gave us a larger cup and charged us for a larger cup without any consent from us on that. They did not offer the correct it, and because it was only about a dollar I didn't complain too much. They definitely overcharged us based on what the menu said and what we thought we were ordering.
They asked us what side we wanted and said fries, mac and cheese, something else were available. Options. Ordered the mac and cheese. They didn't tell us that would be extra, and based on the overhead menu that was not apparent. Would have gotten the fries rather than paying extra, but only knew that after we got the receipt.
The people in line after us had a similar predicament when they asked about their receipt as well. In their case they had ordered something that they didn't have a button for maybe and they were charged for something they didn't order that cost more than what they ordered. They were like what? That's not what we ordered.
If you go to Popeyes, get the sandwich, just the chicken sandwich. No fries. No mac and cheese. No combo. Just the chicken sandwich. Seems to be the only thing they're good at. And they're ordering system seems to have a problem and the employees do not seem to have an investment in charging people for what they think they were ordering.
It's not that they only ever charge just about a dollar, it's that they couldn't communicate about it and this problem occurred with two orders in a row, the only orders I was aware of. If Popeyes can't get their ordering system correct? Where people know what they're going to pay, it's just ridiculous. It's not a lot of money,...
Read moreThe customer service here needs improving which may require additional customer service training! The lack of CARE/CONCERN for food safety and customers' food was ridiculous to see today. No Welcome upon entering the restaurant, the front counter employee didn't smile and looked more scared than anything. I asked him a couple questions related to some of the food items & he couldn't answer. He walked towards the drive thru area to ask his coworker who just shrugged his shoulders as he walked away from him. He didn't have a response but the first thing that came to his head was "I can make that fresh for you"... The girl that I believe to or should've been assisting with expo/making sure food items were stocked grabbed a set of tongues and went to the chicken tenders where she then picked around in them to find one to her liking and walked towards a corner where I could no longer see her to eat it. Isn't that what breaks are for? The taller Mexican guy that had walked in after I placed my order came from the bathroom and walked right behind the counter and started grabbing things to work with... He didn't have a complete uniform on just black jeans and a plain white T-shirt. The level of cross contamination that I saw today was really disturbing and definitely needs to be looked into and discussed. The lack of customer service throughout the entire interaction was really sad to see. Once the guy brought my food to the counter, I went ahead and checked it because I knew he didn't make the order or verify that all my items had been placed inside. And what do you know..I was missing things! As a front counter worker, it's also your job to verify the work of your coworkers because that falls back on you making sure customer needs are met the FIRST time around. . This had to be one of the worst encounters I've had with Popeyes in...

Probably the worst drive-thru experience in Austin tonight. A friend and I are placing our orders at the window because the intercom is broken in this run-down location, there's a poorly written note on it that says to pull forward, so we do. The sound of metal hitting metal emanates from the bowels of the kitchen. We don't even get a 'Hi', and the night crew look like they want to kill us, as if we are the Black Riders here to take the 'Precious'. That's not true at all, for we are not here for the Precious, we are but weary, hungry travelers on a personal quest of great significance and require sustenance for our perilous journey.
The uncharitable, cheerless "lady" (read: ORC) with a bizzare gleam in her left eye at the window informs us with peculiar finality that she can only serve ONE CUSTOMER PER CAR!!! So, my friend can order, but for my order we would have to go around a second time! Tricksy, these orcs, very tricksy indeed.
Is this some new business logic that they're teaching in their corporate meetings down in Mordor?! Hmmm. Long story short - we went to Church's a block away: a little bit older building exterior, but the folks were much nicer, friendly even, and the food tasted great and slightly cheaper too. Also, their intercom worked.
Don't go through the Popeyes drive-thru at night, the night crew will probably SPIT IN YOUR FOOD. Do you really want orc spit...
