Tabarek Iraqi Food — Restaurant in Austin

Used to be the best kabob in town- but the owner changed and now the sandwich kabob volume has been cut almost in half. They are also using a new kind of bread which is inferior, and the sandwich composition is no longer grilled onion and tomatoes but cold salad + pickles. Unfortunately a huge downgrade in quality and quantity of the food.

I hope the new owners will revert the recipes to the methods the old owner was using because they were tried & true. Will be revisiting to see if there is...

I ordered a couple sandwiches to go. The chicken tikka sandwich was phenomenal. The chicken was perfectly seasoned, very flavorful, and, as many other reviewers have mentioned, the bread - which reminded me of pita bread in texture - was absolutely delicious. This was my first time trying Tabarek and my first time trying Iraqi food. Service was great, prices were very reasonable. Can’t wait to try more...

We had falafel sandwich and it was fresh and really good. Falafel was fried to correct level and not too crispy or oily. I would highly recommend this place and next time would try their chicken...
