If you're an out-of-towner who wants to know where to try a quintessential Austin breakfast taco, this is the place. The atmosphere could not be more Austin, and the breakfast tacos are great as well.
Cactus breakfast taco ($2.99) (egg, potato, chorizo, cactus & cheese): This is my favorite breakfast taco yet in Austin. The ingredients are thick and hearty, and meld together nicely, unlike the breakfast tacos at a lot of places like Tacodeli, which just taste like they tossed some random breakfast items in a tortilla and called it a breakfast taco. Cactus breakfast plate ($7.50): Like the cactus breakfast taco, but you build it yourself. It comes with two tortillas, and would be enough for a third or even fourth taco if there were more tortillas. Also has beans. Miga breakfast taco ($2.69) (egg, pico, chips & cheese): I thought this one was a little on the bland side, and much preferred the cactus. ChaCha ($3.50) (crispy flat tortilla with beans, lettuce, tomatoes, cheese, pastor, guac, queso): Interesting, and messy. I had no idea how to eat this Tex-Mex creation. It's a big flat hard taco shell, piled with a ton of stuff. It tasted alright, but I don't think I'd get it again. Fish taco ($3.25) (grilled tilapia, cabbage w/ pico & tangy dressing): A nice simple fish taco. Barbacoa taco ($3.75): A fairly standard barbacoa taco, not the greatest I've ever had. I'd skip this and get it from a Mexican taco truck for half the price. Horchata ($1.85): This may be the best horchata I have ever had before. So smooth and creamy, almost like milk. Maybe it could stand to be just a tad thicker, but...
Read moreMarias tacos are the best tacos in the entire world. I have been coming to Maria’s almost since they first opened. I have moved out of Austin, and I travel a ton and I keep trying tacos all over the world and I have NEVER found tacos as good as these ANYWHERE in the U.S. or elsewhere. And believe me I have looked hard.
As soon as I come back to Austin for a visit, Maria’s is one of the first places I stop. I just came back and was so sad to find out they closed the main location and only have a truck now. But also, not too disappointed because I went by the truck and got my favorite tacos (the miga and the pastor with chimichurri sauce) and they were super-fast with super friendly service and oh so good!
I can’t believe so many restaurants in Austin have closed due to the NWO Plandemic. But it is all by design so no surprise really. All part of Agenda 2030. I just hope amazing restaurants like Maria’s Taco Xpress can recover. Don’t let the fact that Maria’s moved into a truck stop you from trying their amazing tacos and sauces. It was super convenient to get them to go especially after a long run on Town Lake. This is one restaurant I would so love to see become a chain. I hope once the NWO is gone and the masses finally wake up to the Covid psyop, we will see many businesses like Maria’s...
Read more(Based on breakfast tacos only) The atmosphere is fantastic. There is no denying that. A place with true character and incredible growing excitement while waiting in line. Which I'm completely fine waiting in lines for brunch over the weekend in Austin that is inevitable. So I will not take this into account. However, the breakfast tacos were just ultimately disappointing. They put too much cheese on them, which I could possibly lose my man card for saying that, but their cheese choice just ruined it. Was it cheddar? Not sure but it basically ruined the taco. Also the bacon egg and cheese tacos has full bacon slices, not chopped up into the eggs. This in my opinion is lazy, some people might like this but I do not. I really wanted this to be my new go to place. These tacos were disappointing enough to the point where my excitement to try the rest of the menu died a bit inside. However the price was fair, three ingredient...
