This restaurant is difficult to figure out. The food is good, but the cocktails were not. I was offered a complimentary glass of prosecco for my birthday. It tasted like free prosecco...not very good. I then ordered the Ancho Villa, a "signature cocktail". All I can say is that it tasted like a Bloody Mary, without the tomato base, and I didn't find that at all appealing. The dining room aesthetic is a bit odd, and the service was absolutely terrible. My friend and I both ordered lump crabcakes, with sides of broccolini and onion rings. We were served the crabcakes, but then had to remind the server that we also had ordered sides. It was pretty clear that the order hadn't been submitted with our entrees, as we had to wait a considerable time for the sides to come to the table. I will say that the crabcakes were quite good. At the end of the meal, after we sat talking for some time, we had to ask that our server please bring the check. After then providing a credit card, we were left sitting for ANOTHER 10+ minutes, and when we asked to close the bill, our server was confused, and didn't recognize that he still had the credit card and hadn't returned to close the bill. In spite of multiple fairly egregious lapses in service, none of it was acknowledged with any type of recognition or apology. Overall, the experience was a substantial...
Read moreI saw Teddy’s as a new restaurant in Austin and we wanted to give it a try. It’s in a great location off Kerbey lane and there’s decent parking although more than likely you’ll have to park on the street. We ordered the mango Chamoy margarita and the watermelon basil. We change from tequila to Mezcal and they were great! For main courses, we ordered the Midland dip and I thought it was great. It had a mix of sweet and spicy with a great flavor. We also ordered the special which was the cod dish and it was incredible. Probably the best meal at our table. What else stood out was the shoestring fries which are great. For the kids meals we ordered the salmon which was great with a nice and crispy on the outside and the cheese quesadilla were both really good. They have kid’s menus! The Beef carpaccio was good, but was too salty. The tuna ceviche however was excellent. As for the restaurant, it’s nice and clean and has a good layout with indoor and outdoor seating. There’s also a nice bar section where you can sit and they have a wide range of drinks and cocktails. The service was great and our server Henry was nice and provided some insights into the food. Overall, we were placed with our experience and would recommend this...
Read moreStarting off with the positive:
Drinks 5/5 no notes. I had a drink with 4 different types of booze in it and it was super smooth
Food- almost a 5/5 with our entrees (midland dip and pork chop) but the hush puppies came out burnt. Not golden brown or even a milk chocolate brown but a dark chocolate and black color to the point they were drier than a mummy’s butthole. These never should have made it to the table.
Service- I hesitate to go this low because while we waited for our table at the bar, great service. The runners picking up plates and glasses great service. Our waitress, passed by our table many times without checking in. When I sent back the hush puppies because they were burnt I was asked “But are they burnt inside?” No, they were dry inside and tasted like a salted charcoal on the outside. I want this place to thrive, our entrees, the cheese cake, the drinks all delicious, a good size, and well priced but Austin has too many restaurant choices for a place in this expensive in a neighborhood to survive without regulars. Would definitely recommend they just need to Tighten up regarding servers and making sure if the back of house messes up a dish they don’t just bring it out and hope...
