We went here last night and it was amazing. Unfortunately my bf had an accident and we were at the hospital and saw this was just across the way. We went over and noticed he forgot he still had his hospital band on and we quickly removed it. It must have been the owner that noticed and came over and offered a napkin to hide it in so it could be disposed of. We were grateful and a little embarrassed but he was very quiet about it and was very discreet. On top of that our server was on top of everything the entire night. The food was fantastic. It all tasted fresh and homemade. This is NOT your average chain restaurant Italian food. It was so much better. They have a large pizza oven that you could watch the pizzas being placed in and pulled out when done. We didn't order one but will definitely be back to try it. I ordered the chicken parm and he ordered the chicken marsala. While both were great, the marsala was the best. Highly recommend! We will be back soon. Thank you to the kind...
Read moreCan't recommend this place at all. We decided to try the Bistro tonight since it's been open for a few months. We were greeted with "do you have a reservation" question then the conversation was promptly taken over by another employee who mentioned they were very busy but here is a high top table on the patio. The table was on their lovely patio - it was nice. Once seated we looked over their menu and realized there were exactly 4 things suitable for vegetarians (2 salads, 2 apps, no mains). The wine menu was interesting with several wines marked vegan and a few organic. We thought it odd that wines were marked for vegan/veg but not their food menu. After being ignored for 10 mins - not even water was served, we punted and went down the street to Cucina on 35th where the waitstaff was great as was the food. After dinner, I realized this is the 2nd incarnation of the Baretto Bistro. And I didn't like the first one in Great Hills either - for the...
Read moreBaretto Bistro didn’t impress during our recent lunch outing. Despite its friendly and efficient service, the dining experience fell short. The meatball sandwich wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t impressive either - just kinda bland. The Niçoise salad was over-dressed, with tuna lacking the traditional sear, which wasn’t a surprise because our waiter said it was preserved in oil, but mentioning here because Niçoise in my opinion is infinitely better seared. The artichoke dip's soupy consistency was disappointing, although the flavor was fine.
The vibe was pleasant, despite the strip mall-ish location - they’ve done a good job creating a friendly bistro atmosphere. Although the cocktail and wine list seemed promising, we refrained from indulging midday. Overall, Baretto Bistro wasn't the right fit for us, but might be worth another try...
