Marlin Club — Restaurant in Avalon

So this is our first trip to catalina, and we just got kicked out of this bar because my friend was having a private conversation with my husband and someone else about how he voted for trump, and ALFREDO the bartender/manager/whatever he is, apparently didn't like that, and started screaming at us to get out, and when we responded with, "what?" He threatened to call the sheriff on us, and demanded that the door security(who was just as confused as us) throw us out. Then he proceeded to rile up half the bar and encourage them to scream at and berate us. Great bar management decision. Encourage a bunch of drunk customers to gang up on one person because YOU dont agree with someones vote. I have never been so humiliated in my life. Like I haven't had one drink and I'm getting kicked out of a bar. I've never been kicked out of anywhere in my entire life. This was supposed to be a fun, memorable birthday trip for my husband and these are the memories we're going home with. There are so many bars on catalina. Please consider somewhere else. I underatand and absolutely support a business's right to refuse service to anyone, but this was beyond that. This bartenders actions could have gotten one or all of us seriously hurt or worse. Visited the Marlin on a Saturday night with my crew of sea men. There were crowds from all walks of life.

The most lively of the bar (outside of the Captain's) was a group of 50+ year olds gathered around the pool table. They were super friendly and were very grab assy with each other. We played pool together and shared many laughs.

There is a modern jukebox available to play tunes. However, as soon as you stopped feeding it the music stopped which left it quiet and awkward for a bar like this.

Some cocky young college lads tried to challenge us in a game of pool and were quickly removed from the bar for being under age.

A nice silver gentleman who liked to be referred to as big daddy kept the group hydrated by serving us round after round of bottled water.

A gang of thirsty teachers then entered and danced with us until the place closed down.

I'm not into jello shots but theirs actually didn't taste too bad.
