TRAVELLERS BEWARE IF YOU PAY BY CARD AND CHECK BEFORE YOU LEAVE. Food was a little pricey but decent...However the older lady (who might be the one another reviewer mentioned) who served me was a rude and kept asking us to pay while we ate which was fine and she charged for the food + tax and brought the card back...

BUT then when I left my travel bank card (so it was obvious i was a tourist) a second time to give a tip, she took it and never brought it back while we waited so I went to ask for it.

She kept insisting she didn't know where it was and suggested I probably had it in my handbag and made a show of looking through the bill book.

I saw no card on the table when we got up and I was certain it was in the folder she took which my cousin also confirmed. I checked my bag, wallet and pockets but of course the card wasn't there because I never took it out of the bill book.

I kept insisting I left it for them to take a tip off it and would not leave until I got it back because there was no way it would be elsewhere.

I then decided to insist more firmly that I left it in the folder and would lock my card on my phone app right then and there. Soon after that, somehow the card suddenly materialised in her hand "from the table" when other people started to look at what was going on.

The lady then proceeded to make another show of shaking her head. I ended up locking my card tenporarily when I left the restaurant because I no longer wanted to tip her. Added a small sour...

A solid breakfast diner in the heart of Avalon. Stopped in for my first time this morning and overall we had a nice breakfast. It’s not quite as good as a lot of spots on the mainland, but given its location I feel they did a good job. It was quite busy on a Thursday morning, so I’m sure it can get even crazier on weekends. They have a very large menu filled with all sorts of classic dishes so choosing some thing was a bit of a challenge given how many options there were. Our server was polite, although we just saw him at the very beginning of our meal and not again. Our dishes arrived actually pretty slowly, but given that I’m sure the kitchen is smaller than a lot of mainland kitchens I won’t fault them too much for that. Pricing is also pretty fair given that it’s island food and feel it would be a good stop if you’re in the area and looking for breakfast.

For my breakfast I chose the Dungeness Crab Eggs, Benedict and thought it was pretty good. The sauce was more watery than I prefer, and the Dungeness Crab was very chopped, almost like burger meat, so I wish it would’ve been more in chunk form like you see in a Dungeness Crab Cocktail. Also the hashbrowns could have been a bit crispy but overall not a bad meal. They do have Kona Coffee so the coffee was very strong and tasty, which may have been my favorite part of the meal. I would suggest if you are in Avalon and looking for a nice place to...

This is one of the worst experiences I’ve had in a restaurant. The food had little flavor but was heavy on oil. We joked that it was an SNL skit because every few minutes the waitress would tell our table or the tables around us that they had run out of something including creamer, sourdough toast during peak breakfast service. She forgot to add something into my breakfast and after adding it as a side dropped it off at the wrong table. After we got the check she told us her credit card machine wasn’t working. My husband went to two atm machines (both of which didn’t work) while I waited at the restaurant. They directed us to walk to Vons to try another one and when I got up to walk with him, the staff stopped us from going loudly as if we were trying to skirt the bill. Finally the manager came over and when we explained, that I was walking with him rather than staying in the restaurant he graciously understood and “let us go”. We returned to pay the bill, but will not be returning to this restaurant ever again. I worked in the service industry for years and this treatment was incredibly unprofessional minus...

The guy who got lost going from Marin county to Catalina lost his chart in San Francisco. Catalina Island is an hour boat ride from Long Beach, Newport, or Dana Point. The ride is roughly $80 round trip. What’s so wild to me is that after what is essentially equivalent to a one hour car ride, you’re on an ISLAND. And not just any island. From the Catalina island museum, we learned a ton of cool stuff about it - like how it was bought by the Wrigley family (like Wrigley gum and Wrigley stadium), Marilyn Monroe used to live there, and it was a hot spot for Hollywood celebrities to vacation. And it def does feel like an island getaway. Super idyllic, super quaint, and with an air of nostalgia drifting through the mild ocean breeze. While it is definitely a summer destination, I really think the life hack is to go during winter. It’s California so it’s still great weather, but you skip having to go when everyone else is there. So you can check out the food, the museums, the boat rides, and everything else without any wait time. We stayed at the Courtyard suites, did the mini golf course (my favorite), checked out the museum, ate at original jack’s, Antonio’s pizza, got ice cream, and generally just enjoyed the views. Have you ever been here? Do you wanna go? . . . #catalina #losangeles #la #vacation #island #vacation #orangecounty #oc #thingstodooc #datenight #losangeles

This place has horrible and expensive food.... and no one working here wears masks despite the signs posted all over about LA county health officer mandate to regardless of vaccination status. First of all, a breakfast BLT is apparently impossible for these people to conceive (technically a lunch item...but...) if you order the breakfast sandwich (bacon lettuce and egg on bread) and ask for egg on the side, they make it sound like its a difficult ask...typical LA. Food is tasteless....except for grease. The hash browns look good, but again tasteless. Got a chicken and egg breakfast, a breakfast sandwich, and two (water) coffees for $50. You're better off not eating or just going to vons to find something to hold you over till someplace else opens. Problem is this place is the only breakfast like sit down place in Avalon, so they can be terrible, charge a fortune for terrible food, and not follow government mandates for masking and still do fine. If they can't manage to wear masks...I wonder if they follow other health code mandates in back.....like washing hands after bathroom breaks....etc...
