Stopped in yesterday afternoon during the downpour to grab a couple of pizzas - one with pepperoni, one with bacon. I don't have a Master Pizza near me so I figured I'd try it while I was out. It was, in a word, average. If you break it down by element (cheese, crust, sauce, toppings) you have the makings of a perfectly adequate mid-level pie. The one key thing missing here was flavor.
The cheese was pretty bland; Got the provolone and moz blend though looking back on it, I probably should have tried the cheddar jack. I also chose the sweet crushed tomato sauce over the original, which I think was the right call, just could have used more of it. Flavor-wise it was fine, but it's not quite Angelina's in terms of sweetness if that's what you're expecting.
The best thing by far was the toppings; The old-style pepperoni produced plenty of grease - which is a huge plus - and the bacon was right on the mark. Bonus points here because I ate about half of it cold and the bacon made it work (An important litmus test for pizza is how good it is cold).
But while the toppings held up, the crust just had no flavor to it whatsoever. Never mind topping your crust with parm or oregano; This just had no life to it. Some places will dust their dough with herbs, infuse it with oil, etc, but after a couple slices, I had to cover this thing with grated cheese to get it where it needed to go.
Overall, not bad, and probably worth trying if you happen to be passing by and you're in the mood for it, but not really worth making a trip if you're a few towns over from the...
Read morePizza was pretty good but the employees were rude and unprofessional.
We had visitors in from out of town and decided to try something new. When I called in I was told the pizzas would be ready in 20-25 min, so I showed up after 30 minutes. After I paid, I was told it would another 10 minutes. I know when you call in, and they give you a time, it's not an exact calculation. I mentioned to the girl it had already been 30 minutes and took a seat to wait. As I was sitting watching TV, I overheard the girl at the counter complaining about me and that I had looked at the timer on my watch. I wasn't trying to be rude, I just had about 10 things to do before I got home. When you have guests you want to make sure the pizza is hot. So if you mean 40 minutes, just say 40 minutes (not 20 - 25 min).
The customer may not always be right, but I'm still the customer. I don't appreciate being talked about when I'm sitting right there and I just paid $50 for pizza. It's unprofessional and completely uncalled for. In addition, as I was leaving a delivery guy, who was standing there, pretended to scratch his face with his middle finger.
Everyone enjoyed the pizza, including me. However, with all of the pizza options in the area I will not be returning. It's sad because I really wanted to...
Read more8/2/24 - Had to come back and update my review from 8 years ago. Still enjoy their food! Today, however, they went above and beyond by donating 12 half sheet pizzas to a worthy cause. Thank you for being an important member of the community!
5/31/16 - First time eating here. I ordered a personal pizza with pepperoni and sausage as well as some Sriracha wings and garlic parm wings. Took it to go, but ordered at the counter so had time to chat with the employees. Very friendly people and professional.
The food was great! The wings were fall-off-the-bone tender and had good flavor. Love that they are baked and not deep fried! The pizza was good, too. It reminded me of Angelo's in Lakewood a bit.
Their menu has appetizers, salads, about 20 specialty pizzas, pastas and subs. They do pizza "by the slice" from 11 AM - 3 PM weekdays, I believe.
It's a new business in Avon, but they've been around since 1955, starting on Mayfield Road...
