UPDATE: I’ve eaten here twice now. Figured I’d give it a fair chance. It was ok at best. The dogs are ok. The Philly is good. The kids meals portions are not good and everything is EXPENSIVE! We spent more here for a few hotdogs for a family of 4 than we do at much nicer restaurants.
Additionally, skips absolutely ruins the atmosphere of this area. The cute little businesses next door have beautiful patios and a very calm and serene atmosphere that is shattered by this 90% drive-thru service building with people honking and cars idling within feet of this. It’s also next to a park which it ruins for the same reason. Skips is a waste of land usage. The same restaurant could exist in 1/4 the square footage. The parking lot is always empty and hardly anyone utilizes the patio for the same reasons I listed above.
ORIGINAL REVIEW: I decided to try this place with some friends today. I have a coupon from Georgia commute options and was interested in checking it out. The owner refused the coupon because I didn’t print it. He kept saying it was in the fine print. Guess what wasn’t in the fine print. I have used these coupons at other restaurants multiple times with no issue. If he was worried about authenticity he can see there is an authorization number on the coupon. If anything, printing it would be less secure as someone could make endless copies of it. Needless to say, I wasn’t carrying a printer with me so I wasn’t able to use it. This is a shortsighted policy and for a new patron who came to check out your restaurant because of the publicity you received from this coupon, it is very off-putting. Very inflexible in a world where most people don’t even have printers and electronic options are...
Read moreI had been having a craving for Chicago Hot dogs. I had moved from Birmingham to Atlanta and about three years later we ran across a place called Brad's. It was on Old National Highway near the old movie theater. I had never eaten a Chicago Hotdog before and I ordered one so I would know how they tasted and Brad's became a favorite stop for the hotdogs. One day Brad told me he was selling the business and he did. The business would be closed randomly and a business that serves food has to be open for business as advertised and the new owner didn't follow that rule and they were soon closed. 47 years later I decided I wanted a Chicago Hotdog and I Googled Chicago Hotdogs near me and I looked at the locations and Jonesboro was 5 miles and I decided maybe this place would have a hotdog that was decent. I ordered two hot dogs and decided I should order four just in case they were decent. I also ordered the Jerk beef taco's for my buddy. I didn't hear a complaint about the jerk beef taco's and I focused on my hotdogs. I looked at the first two hotdogs and I could see the Chicago Hotdogs had everything they were supposed to have and they were a mouth watering treat!! I later ate the las two and they were completely consistent with the first two. The Chicago Hotdogs were not excellent, they were perfect!! The Chicago Hotdogs are expensive to make and to find the authentic ingredients are a nightmare. I will be returning to the Taste of Chi Town on Tara Boulevard again in the near future because quality is the most important...
Read moreThe young lady who took my order needs training on dealing with the public. It was a painful experience for me but wasn’t worth the personal stress to prove to her that she was wrong but I thought someone needs to know. I ordered a combo with onion rings and a drink. I had a long drive so the drink was most important but it appeared “after testing” all that there either needed more syrup or repair for some other reason they had close to no taste of the soda so I decided to opt for the sweet tea. I read one container said unsweetened so clearly I chose the other one because it made sense to me that it would be sweet so here I am whole my food is prepped having a difficult time with the drinks working for me. I went to the cashier and asked if it was time to add more syrup because they are all flat and she didn’t even take a breath before she said “that’s impossible because they were just taken care of” WRONG REPLY!!! Then I said well can you add some sweet tea and she said I was headed to do that and when she poured it in and I tried that one too it was the same as UNSWEETENED and as I was going to tell her she turned and walked away. No expression. No kindness. No understanding. No compassion. Just absolutely the wrong energy to take care of customers especially a new one/first time visiting. So I basically paid $12 for a combo and left the cup there. It was not a good experience and I’ve been in customer service for over 20 years and it’s definitely a sad day for any of us expecting...
