Tacos El Gavilan

Finally had a chance to visit this place again after Covid. Had a hankering for tacos and thought why not? Snapped a photo of the entrance before walking in, an hour before they closed. Wasn't a lot of customers there but while I was perusing my choice I noticed that a line was slowly but surely forming behind me. The girl at the counter was nice and smiled patiently as I peered at the menu above. Ordered my carnitas tacos and proceeded to the drinking station. I couldn't make my mind up between the horchata and tamarindo as both of them tasted good. I did what normal adults do, a process of elimination called, "eenie, mini, mynie, mo" and landed on tamarindo, so I chose horchata (lol) and filled up the cup, no ice of course. At the salsa bar, it has changed a lot since Covid. It used to be open salsa bar, now they are all pre-packaged. The beans are still AYCE so I got 2 little cups of beans, 2 of the packaged green salsa, and two of red, and a small bag of onions and cilantro. Unfortunately they ran out of shredded lettuce. These give the tacos more crunch and a welcome freshness to cut through the fat from the carnitas. My order was exactly how I wanted it so this piggy went to town. Ate the two tacos with the green salsa and one small cup of beans. As usual I removed the second tortilla. I took home the rest of the beans and salsa for breakfast the following day. The place was bright and clean, and parking wasn't a problem. Then again this was close to midnight. Haven't checked out the restroom and don't intend to, just to refute what others are saying about the...

If there was a negative star option it still wouldn't be enough. The amount of professionalism in this establishment is laughable. Anybody planning on applying to this hellhole I'm warning you right now, PLEASE DON'T!!! Unless you're ready and willing to bow down and pucker up to ROSA'S ass stay away from this place. She has all the little chicken co-workers under her thumb and I bet it probably helps that she's sleeping with BENJI the manager, which they can really try to be a little more discreet about. I don't mean to be petty, I really dont, but the way these people acted was absolutely horrendous but what can you expect when you're working with a bunch of twenty some year olds fresh out of cutting off mommy's umbilical cord. And since were on the topic of petty if anyone reading this can do me a favor and just make her day a little harder, not as hard as she made working there be because let's face it that's impossible, it would really warm up my spiteful little heart. Once again that is ROSA, she would be the heavier set one typically wearing some pink lipstick that makes her look like the unholy child of Nikki Minaj and jabba the hut, and BENJI, the big guy who looks like he dissaponted his mother at least six times a day and who's testicles can frequently be seen as a necklace around rosa's cottage...

I was very pleased at Tacos Gavilan. Staff was professional, friendly, courteous. The staff's Uniforms were neat & clean very presentable. My meal was prepared in a timely manner. Ate conbo chicken/carne asada plate. My take out carne asada was also ready. Food flavor was delicious to me. Even Champulado was available. The condiments were individually VACUUMED packed, green & red salsas, lemons & combination diced onion/cilantro. Very sanitary, 👏 brilliant idea !! Napkins, spoons & forks well supplied, area kept clean of drips or food. Following areas were very orderly with PRISTINE floors, tables, chairs, whole lengthy counter with food, separate counter of drinks, ice, straws & lids. No drippings or STICKINESS from droppings of drinks. Impressed with clean restrooms (Important to me). Plenty of parking. I was VERY Impressed & pleased. Will return. Thank you Tacos Gavilan Staff & Mangers....

This is my second review of Tacos Gavilan. I got to say this place was full of fun and flavor. I enjoyed the salsa and beans bar. It was a fun little appetizer. I personally had the Super burrito con pollo. I did taste each component separately and the chicken, guacamole and sour cream were fresh. It was also good size. It was enough to eat half now and half later. I did taste the tacos my daughters got and with the salsa bar you can make each taco your own. The meat itself is really good and no fat chunks that need to be thrown away.

I work locally and I’ve seen this spot before so I thought I’d give it a try. The Al Pastor was not good. It was old, dry and had fat and cartilage in it. It tastes like it was days old. There was a hair in my Asada taco and my husband said the Cubano torta was NOT good. I won’t be going back. Positive was the drive thru service
