Today was my first time eating from this restaurant. I’m not sure if the person who helped was the owner or employee but he was really welcoming and helpful. He asked if I’ve ever been there and I said “It was my first time.” He recommended the chicken or beef but I’m a picky eater and tend to order vegetarian entrees. I eat chicken but I prefer it be cooked a certain way. He told me to try it but I was afraid of not liking it. So, I suggested I would try it but could I purchase a falafel on the side in case I didn’t like it. He said he could do that but wouldn’t charge me for the extra falafel. He was so sweet! I have to be honest I wasn’t hopeful of liking it. BUT I was so wrong! The chicken was so good!!! It was cooked exactly how I loved it. I’ve always been a picky eater when it comes to chicken because I use to love the way my mom use to make it and ever since she died it’s been hard to find chicken I actually like. This is the first time I actually LOVED the chicken since my mom died. Thank you for pushing me outside my comfort zone but still giving me my falafels in case I didn’t like the chicken. I will be definitely going back to order...
Read moreI love Middle Eastern/Mediterranean food. Fortunately, the San Gabriel Valley is blessed with a number of simple neighborhood restaurants. Some are better than others, but overall, the quality is generally acceptable to quite good. Aladdin Jr. is a new entrant to the field, and it’s a good one!
The menu contains all the expected favorites, plus a few less well-known dishes. My wife started with “Large Cold Appetizer Combo” — Hummos, Tabbouley, Babaghanouj, and Stuffed Grape Leaves, but the restaurant kindly substituted Fattoush for the Tabbouley. Large is an appropriate description for this Combo. We had leftovers of almost everything. More importantly, each dish was terrific, and most were subtly different than similar offerings in other restaurants. We also ordered Chicken and Beef Empanadas, which were surprisingly good. I ordered the Falafel wrap, and it was equally good. The pita was huge and stuffed with all the goodies.
The service was at least as good as the food. The small staff was professional, attentive, and quite friendly.
Aladdin Jr. is new, and I encourage everyone to try it. I am confident you will...
Read moreI went in looking for a gyro. I saw online they had a section of their menu that said sandwiches. They had chicken, beef, and lamb (which says gyro in parentheses). I got a lamb "gyro", and I also ordered a burger.
When I returned home I did not receive a gyro. It was a wrap and it definitely was not lamb. It was chunks of beef. I assume they gave me the wrong meat. Nonetheless it wasn't what I wanted. I wanted strips of gyro meat in pita bread. I chose to add feta cheese, which was a 50/50 ratio with the meat. I had to scrape feta cheese out with my finger. It's like they were compensating for the lack of meat in it.
The burger was past well done. It was charcoal at that point. Burned to a crisp. It was so over seasoned and slightly spicy. It was absolutely disgusting. I can't express enough how terrible that burger was.
$34 to feed 2 people. And I didn't even get fries with my "gyro". Plus I had to circle back for my drink she never gave me.
Plz do not waste your time or money...
