Friendly staff but rude owner. Had a pleasant dining experience until the owner/ manager came up to the table concerning a problem with the receipt. After receiving the receipt, I saw I was charged for a dish I didn't order. I told the waitress I wanted the "pork and shrimp sui mai" which is $6. The waitress apparently wrote down "pork sui mai" and "shrimp dumplings" and is $6 per order, but I didn't know that was done until received my receipt. I asked another waitress (the original waitress had disappeared) about the charge, explained the situation, and we both reviewed the menu. She apologized for the mix up and went to speak with the owner. Seeing that the dim sum is a "special" dish that is only made on the weekends, I had made up my mind to eat the cost of the additional charge and suggest that the staff taking orders be more aware of what's on the menu. The owner came up and begin to blame me for her staff's mistake stating "you should've told us before we brought the food out." I told her I couldn't and didn't know what happened until I got the receipt. She never once tried to listen to what I had to say and clearly had her mind set on not trying to resolve the problem. While she called herself tying to be "nice" she was actually rude sand kept interrupting me with other statements (like "well, didn't you enjoy your meal. Ok good.") that indicated she's not trying to hear anything from me. I guess the owner doesn't care about how she treats customers as long as they pay and "enjoy the food." UPDATE (22 August 2019): Thuy's new place on Madrone Lane in Winslow is light, clean, and features her many varieties of Pho, as well as many of her other delicious dishes (no longer serves her non-Asian cuisine from the old Roosters Restaurant). A note on the automatic 20% tip idea: Thuy wants to keep her prices down for her customers as reasonable as possible and still serve wonderful food; and at the same time she has always had the policy of dividing equally among her employees all tips. I've always been very happy to tip at least 20% for her amazing food, and for her staff that is always well-trained, attentive, hardworking, and friendly! So the auto gratuity is fine with me. I know a few might feel a little strange about it, but it is clearly declared on the bottom of the menu, and the wait-staff always remind clientele of the policy. The pho was a revelation. The broth was clean, fragrant, and oh-so-flavorful. You could tell they slow-cooked it for hours, and the depth of flavor was incredible.
