Charley's Deli & Ice Cream — Restaurant in Baker City

My Wife and I just moved to Baker City in July so we’re still pretty new to the town haven’t tried much. So we went to try Charley’s Ice Cream and Deli. We had a horrible experience. The food was way over priced for what it was, it was underdone in places and over done in others. I asked for cheese and I didn’t get any. My wife wanted a little bit of mustard, and got everything smothered in mustard, she also wanted it to be more mayo and got a speckle of mayo. I wanted jalapeños and got none. I asked about a drink to see if it had any red dye in it, because if my wife even gets any in her system it will send her to the hospital or worse, and when I asked they didn’t even care to answer the question, all they said was “it has huckleberry syrup if that helps”. When the lady was making the food it felt like no love was put into it. Yes they were fast, but what’s the point in being fast if you don’t even remember the all the toppings on a sandwich. The atmosphere was Terrible. It felt like they knew we weren’t from here and don’t want to give us a good service. All I know is that if I want a sandwich subway is less expensive and will give you way more for your buck, better service and a better atmosphere Will not be going to Charlie’s ice cream and...

This place is amazing! I haven’t eaten at an old school deli like this in years! Meat cut-to-order makes all the difference! I only wish this was open later because I would’ve eaten here last night for dinner 🤗

Lady at the counter was super nice. Very welcoming and attentive. She was very careful in making and assembling my sandwich — you could tell she cares about people, not just customers. Excellent customer service. Had my ex-wife made sandwiches with the attention and care this lady does for all patrons, I’d still be married!

Great service, comforting food! You build your own sandwich and they have an option of a half sandwich and small soup. They had pot pie soup with moist shredded chicken in it, yum! Freshly sliced deli meat, freshly sliced cheese. I got pastrami and dill havarti, and you get a choice of veggies and I had their Baker Brew spread which is a very good oil and vinegar blend. Located on the corner of this chill town, small but spacious enough place, dark interior but big windows, not a huge amount of places to sit but more tables in the hallway outside the restaraunt.
