One of the great regional museums of Oregon featuring the history of Baker County industries and one of the largest rock, gem and mineral exhibits in the country.
The first floor will take you to an exhibit from the Oregon Trail Museum, which is currently being renovated.
The Calvin-Warfel Rooms takes you through the 18-ton collection of two sisters that started locally in the 1930s.
The collection includes rocks, fossils, and gems from around the world and from Oregon.
The rooms include the Billy Wyatt Cabochon Collection featuring agates, jaspers, and cabochons.
The pool room includes exhibits on mining, agriculture, and model sets from the movie Paint Your Wagon.
The upstairs ballroom exhibits include Chinese heritage, period rooms from the past, a school room and Airstream Trailer.
The gift shop has a number of rocks and thundereggs and a nice selection of books.

We are Rockhounds who have been to natural history museums from New York to Istanbul, but the rock collection built by two sisters from Baker was by far the most diverse and most spectacular that we have ever seen! A fine exhibition about the local Chinese community was insightful, as was the educational panel set up in front of a bordello room. Tableau’s to show how mining and transportation were set up, along with displays of different shops and offices from the 1800s were very well done.
