My Spot Downtown Grill — Restaurant in Bakersfield

I tried to use the app to order today and it kept saying error try again later so I just called. The girl answered the phone and no one said hello. I waited like 15 seconds hearing them talk to each other and said hello and the girl said in a very unfriendly tone “this is the spot” I ordered and when I went to pick it up the girl was on her cell phone and again I had to say hello before I was greeted. She said picking up and I said yes she said for..? I said actually they didn’t take my name over the phone and she said oh you ordered over the phone, I know which order is yours. I informed her I was trying to use the app but it kept saying error then the unfriendly tone came back and she said okay. The food was okay but I will never return because the customer service was horrible. Taco Bros had better customer service AND food. I also wrote their Instagram to give them a chance to respond before I publicly said anything and they left me on read. Of course they did. Mediocre food + terrible service = a waste of...

To start, the Manager, Veronica, was EXCELLENT!

She is a sweetheart.

I had never been to this place, by the way, the name has changed to My Spot, Downtown Grill, Inc., and she helped me with my order and was extremely nice.

I recently began eating Vegan and, while My Spot is not strictly Vegan, they will make Vegan food.

She talked me into the Lentil Tacos. They were perfect.

The flavor profile worked very well together and I was quite happy.

I also had tortilla chips and salsa. The chips were crunchy and flavorful.

The salsa was okay, but the tacos and chips took care of that. They both over shadowed it.

The music playing in the background led to a relaxed atmosphere and general happiness.

I look forward to going to My Spot again.

Let me say that I just tried this place and I’m a big fan. I’m from San Diego, and I could never find a place that can make a “Cali” burrito correctly or get a reasonable price for one. I always get charged separate either a side of fries with side of guacamole and sour cream. Just having the Cali burrito as an option brings me back to my home town in Chula Vista. I appreciate just having that on the menu. The meat is well seasoned, the french fries are the small crispy ones and not the big French fries, so it doesn’t feel like you are biting down on just potatoes. Could be a little more generous with the guacamole and the sour cream. But other then that, definitely my favorite Cali burrito in...
