This is not about a stay, this is about something greater! I know 99 percent of people reading this could care less but for the 1 percent that do that would be for you. A friend of mine recently had a interview at the Marriott on truxton, upon her arrival she informed front desk she was there for an interview which started at 2pm, she text me at 2:03 telling me she was still waiting, had not been greeted, by 2:05 as she's watching who she believes to be the manager walk back and forward pass her she is becoming irritated because it's highly unprofessional! I encourage her to be patient, she tells me she's watching this woman with keys around her hand who she thinks is the manager walk to the front desk whisper something, as the lady keeps looking at her and walking away, by 2:08 my friend has lost all patience and is ready to leave, although I continue to encourage her to stay I honestly couldn't blame her if she walked out. Through the process the bartender approach her and ask her if she would like something to drink. She declines and at 2:10 she leave, truth is I couldn't have been more happy. In Bakersfield people/companies don't want to be blunt about racism... (Clears my throat) fact is they show it each and everyday and continue to get away with it. Whatever the reason you don't schedule an interview and disrespect a person and their time. Now while my friend has held some amazing jobs titles as store manager, supervisor, etc. Marriott will never know the super talented, amazing person they missed out on because their not worthy of having her. Not only is my friend resume outstanding, superb, amazing but she came to this interview ahead of time, she was dressed professional and she was prepared. While ANY company should be excited to gain an employee like this, Marriott missed it's shot and will never get to experience her, while the continue to search looking to hire a new person every month. Although I have so many negative things I'd love to say about the Marriott I'll just keep it to myself, I've been in there plenty of times for different reasons, and I was treated OK, I assume as long as you're spending money at this place you're just fine with them. I would not like to think this is how Marriott represent themselves or how they want people to look at them but I have a very uncomfortable feeling. Again I know most want care however, this is the way Bakersfield represent itself, again I know most people don't/want care but for the people who around just wanted to share this experience.I will never understand how things like this should ever be normal, I will never understand how certain people land positions they shouldn't, I will never understand how being unprofessional you don't have any...
Read moreI have already submitted my complaints directly to Management and via the survey. I have stayed at this hotel weekly for the past couple months. There are some really great staff at this site (Ryan and Ericka at the front desk) and then, not so great staff. My main issue (outside of a really disturbing incident that was already addressed) is the treatment I have received as a regular guest at this specific hotel. I travel to the point that I maybe see my home twice a month on a weekend- some travel carries over into the weekend. The staff here do know my name and greet me upon arrival which is great- out of all the commands a person may have when they travel- my only real request is to be on the same floor as Concierges lounge. It may sound like no big deal but for me it's a time savor in the morning. Their elevators can take forever sometimes, and when I workout in the morning it's easiest for me to go straight to the lounge- grab my breakfast and take it to my room so I can eat in between getting preparing to meet my team. My last two check in experiences have been made difficult because all of a sudden it's a battle to be placed on the 9th floor- and I have other co-workers who come in and out to assist but they always get that floor (call me a pre-Madonna but I would like to think that me being there weekly would have a little more consideration just because it's my home away from home right now). One front desk person went so far as to lie to me about rooms being available on the floor- during the check in another agent put me in a room on my preferred floor with no issue- AND mentioned that my regular room was free too (after I was told it was occupied). It's just so disappointing- there are a ton of things that I could complain about but the only request that I have asked is really simple- to be placed on a particular floor (I don't even care about room type). I didn't make a big deal about my dis-satisfaction to the GM until he reached out to me with a very insecure email basically telling me I can't be on the floor every week- which irritated me because If I didn't make it an issue- why are you sending me an email? In which case- I listed all my issues with this hotel. Everyone has their button- and once it's pushed it opens the...
Read moreAfter over 40 nights in Marriott properties this year I have to say this Marriott Hotel was one of my BEST experiences ever. Before I left I made sure to inform the staff I have never had an experience as great as this one. Although my day is very busy I have to take time out to express my sincere appreciation to the staff.
First off I must say there was not any one particular staff member that I can identify by name because every department at the hotel made this trip special. So here are some details...
Upon check in It was going to be a very special weekend and I explained I never ask for a room upgrade however since I was going to be relaxing this weekend and spend a lot of time in the room I asked for an upgrade. I was to attend a Elton John concert and the staff informed me it had been cancelled and if I still wanted to check in. I explained I never get a break from work and would like to use this weekend with my partner to relax. After working to move some folks around (recognizing I was a Platinum Member) they were able to upgrade my room above and beyond what I had expected.
Then we went to the bar and enjoyed some appetizers and drinks and recognized the bartender from my last trip. He immediately recognized me and jumped to ensure all our requests with the drinks and food were met...We can be a little picky at times and he was very accommodating.
Then when we went to breakfast and I asked the staff if I can get some Hazelnut for my coffee he said no problem and went over to Starbucks and was able to get me some syrup for it. In addition had a few other requests and was more then will to accommodate us.
Finally the single bellman was more then accommodating giving us detailed directions and guidance to restaurant and lounges in the area that we could enjoy since the concert was cancelled.
I must say this is why I choose Marriott as my hotel of choice because I have had some of my MOST memorable experiences at Marriott properties. I know Mr Marriott would have been extremely proud of the Bakersfield Marriott and how his vision is living out.
I would highly recommend the Bakersfield Marriott property for business or a weekend of get away...
