Sequoia Sandwich Company — Restaurant in Bakersfield

I'm only reviewing the downtown location because that's the branch I visit most frequently. I've been a customer for over 11 years. Some sandwiches are very good while others are barely adequate. The Reuben sandwich and both versions of the Pastrami sandwich are disappointing. The meat is chewy and tough, which makes these a chore to finish rather than a delight. The turkey sandwiches are excellent, as are the club sandwiches. The prices are a bit high in relation to the food quality, but they're not outrageous. The service was great when I first started visiting Sequoia in 2008. Unfortunately, there has been a gradual decline in service quality over the past several years. I've had orders where significant ingredients were forgotten and the response from the employees has been indifference. Its almost like I'm bothering them when I ask them to make it right. I'll still go back because there aren't many good dining...

The food here is always Soo good!!! I love their French dip sandwich it's awesome, the au ju is just mind blowing!!! But you need to make sure to get extra meat to really make it deluxe! The Waldorf salad sandwich is good too, but a little too peppery for me. If you love strawberry parfaits, strawberry shortcakes or strawberry pies, you NEED to get their strawberry & cream dessert! It's absolutely delicious!!!! I couldn't stop myself from just finishing it even though I was just going to try it and then save some for later. Yeah there was no later at all. Lol and their soups are also just soo fantastic. I haven't had anything from there that wasn't just sooo mouthwateringly good!!! Just thinking about the stuff I have ordered from then makes me hungry and my mouth water. If you are near this sandwich store do yourself a favor and go in and get one of their many sandwiches, soups, salads or baked potatoes. You...

I have eaten here many times with great experiences until today. We also order box lunches often for work events. Walked in to grab a late lunch and ordered the lite lunch (turkey) as well as some other items. My order was handed to me within a minute which I thought was not normal. I thought this has to be premade since it is a half of sandwich. When I got back to my office a few minutes later I realized that must be true. The lettuce and tomato were wilted but that wasn’t the major issue. The major issue was the avocado was already turning black which is not appetizing.
