It's not always about the food and service. (Overheard today) The man/customer came in and spoke to the gray-haired manager and brought up that on Sunday afternoon he and a waitress got into an issue to the point where the waitress was telling him that she was going to call the police. Today is Thursday the 6th. And when the man came in today to talk to the manager he explained things in a way that made him seem victimized for what sounded like almost stalking the waitress. He asked for information on the waitress which includes the next time she works and the manager was happy to oblige with information on the next time the waitress was working. Knowing that the customer even told him that she was going to call the cops on the customer. Then the man said that he was going to file a police report to the manager. This is 5 days later. When the man/customer, left. I interjected asking the manager if giving out his female employees' information on their schedule is legal and he said he doesn't care. I asked him if giving out his female employees' information about their schedule to a person who's already at issues with that person and the manager said he doesn't care. And I pointed out it sounded like he did not care about his female employees.
This is very disturbing for many reasons, not just that simple things like when I said it's been a week corrected me by saying it's been since Sunday which seemed to have had more priority about discussing what day a week is compared to what day the incident happened then the topic of the safety of the employees. The Manager was very very flippant about anything that had to do with the people under him and their privacy or security.
This was voice dictation while I was driving to the main office for...
Read moreThis location is usually better than average, but I was disappointed in today’s visit. The table was visibly dirty when I sat down. There was no offer or attempt to clean it by the person who seated me or waited on me. I wiped it down myself with a napkin. The “scrambled eggs” weren’t fully cooked and had the consistency of pudding, just mush. The ketchup bottle had pink, opaque fluid inside the cap as soon as I opened it. So, I wipe it away with a napkin, close the bottle and give it a good shake. It still spits out this big stream of light pink fluid onto my hash browns and the heavy vinegar/spoiled taste ruins them. The bacon and pancake were the only saving factors of the meal. The waitress wasn’t rude, but she also wasn’t very attentive or personable. There was no check in to ask how the meal was or to see if a refill was needed. I absolutely hate getting the bill the same time as the meal. I was planning on having a piece of pie too, but this practice of setting the bill on the table with the food puts me off of most restaurants. The lady working the register was slow too. The lady in front of me was picking up an order and while bagging the order, the cashier stops to have a conversation with a customer at the bar. Luckily, another person behind the counter noticed and came to take care of the growing line. I finished my meal 30 minutes ago and already have an uneasy rumbling in my stomach. It’ll likely be a while before I try this...
Read moreThere are 2 things I love, & it's onion rings and a good club sandwich, and Jim's delivers on both!
I love a great club sandwich with juicy tomatoes, crisp lettuce, crunchy bacon & tender turkey with a good mayo. Jim's excels at this offering. I started removing the middle slice of bread and liked it better, so now I order it to omit the middle slice.
And, the onion strings are the absolute b est fried onions in town! Thinly sliced onion strings with crunchy breading are the best balance of onion and coating with the perfect chew. If you've not had Jim's onion strings, you are missing out.
Service was slow, but good. I did want a window booth and the only empty one had not been bussed. When a server finally realized nobody had greeted me, he came, bussed the table, took my order, & apologized for his mistake. The restaurant was not packed, there were about 40% empty tables. But, the wait staff was hopping, nobody wasting time or on break, and they have a "Help Wanted" sign in the window, so they deserve the benefit of the doubt. This is my neighborhood Jim's (1½ blocks walking from my house), and I know they have higher standards, and they are looking for help and hustling to serve. Just be a little b patient as they continue to gather human resources.
This wasn't my first visit, and it will be many more visites before my last one, I'll keep...
