Jill's Cakes & Bakes — Restaurant in Ball Ground

Recently moved to Ballground, and wanted to give this place a try as its the only bakery in town. I came in on a weekday morning looking for donuts, but they really didn't have anything. The middle aged blonde woman behind the counter was not welcoming or even friendly, she even looked annoyed she had to take my order. I ended up ordering an iced coffee, blueberry muffins, bacon egg and cheese biscuit, apple fritter and a frozen pasta dinner for later.

The blueberry muffins were amazing, however I had to wait about 15 minutes for the bacon egg and cheese biscuit, so if your in a hurry sandwiches are not prepared a take a while to make. We ate the pasta dish later that evening and it was underwhelming and tasteless, I ended up adding seasoning after to give it some flavor.

Overall, I wont be rushing back anytime soon as I think the food is average and the service is poor to average. This is another place where you have to "answer a question" asking for a a 15, 20 or 25% tip at the register when...

We have been here many times and the experience gets worse every time. It’s sad because we really prefer to support small businesses but this one is really not worth going. Our visit today prompted this review. When we came in, there were two young ladies working, one helping customers and taking orders, and one who couldn’t be bothered. Talking to her friends and offering them free food - one of which was barefoot inside their business. Our order was okay Ed and we waited over 30 minutes or two sandwiches as people came and went after us with similar orders. Then one of the girls asked what we ordered, only to then have to take our order again and then make it. The owners clearly don’t care because this has been the attitude for quite a while. Tried Jill’s Cakes and Bakes at 370 Gilmer Ferry Rd in Ball Ground, GA for the first time and gave it a 3 out of 5 stars. The outside and inside of the bakery were both tidy and clean. The young girl working the register was sweet. I tried 3 different pastries…….. *Cannoli Cupcake *Strawberry and cheese danish *Cannoli The cake part of the cupcake was dry, in my opinion, and the icing/frosting was fair. Would not order it again. The danish was a little better than the cupcake, still just a little on the dry side. Might order it again. The cannoli on the other hand was amazing!
